Don't overlook the Springfield XD if you are interested in a polymer handgun.
I have a .40 and .45acp, both are great right out of the box.
They also have about the same grip angle as a 1911, which is way more comfortable to me than a Glock.

I do not think that you could go wrong with either choise .
As for the revolver ? , you can leave a revolver loaded forever and not have a problum , leave a magazine loaded for long and the gun will jam becouse the spring will lose its tensoin over time , that will very gun to gun and spring to spring .
Next is , if you do not shoot a lot [ 50,000 ] rounds a yr. then you may not be getting enough pratice to clear a jam at the worse possible time [ when you need it the most - under fire ] .
And all guns will jam/brake/malfunction over time - even revolvers- just less often .

The G27 is a sub-compact that you can only get three fingers on...except really you only get two (pinky hangs off the end). You sure you're not talking about the G23 or the G22??

Consider yourself corrected. It's the .380 you can't get in the U.S.

I think this has pretty much proven to be an internet myth. There is a lot of discussion on that very topic HERE if you care to read it.

I have a set of rotators. Why take the chance? I have seen it many times on M-16 and AK-47 magazines, where the spring is weak, and you gt a malfunction. Also with M-9 mags.

As do I. I have, I think, 9 mags for my G22. I keep three loaded at all times. About once a year I'll buy three new mags and put them into service. That not only gets me more mags, which is a good thing, but it also lets the "old" ones rest.

Still, I don't think it's necessary. I've heard of mags being loaded for years and years and still firing with no problems.

Personally, I suspect that how many times a spring has been cycled may have as much to do with it becoming weak as keeping it loaded, and the springs in modern quality handguns seem to be quite reliable.

With Glocks, however, when one starts failing to feed I generally find that it's shooter neglected to disassemble and clean the inside of the magazine...

I am more on the page of the springs becoming weak from actually having to cycle like the post above states.

Talking

I have a G22(issue), G22C, G23C, G26, G27 and a Springfield TRP Operator (I'm selling) - I got to give a vote for Glocks as I'm a firearms instructor and see the least problems with them on the range. DON't get the compensated models for night fire since they leave a nice V pattern on your retna after the first shot in the dark...... The only thing I would change on a Glock is all the "take up and slack" and the springy trigger break, it's hard to beat the trigger on a nice 1911 gun!!! I know ways to improve the trigger but can't mess with my issue gun so I just use the trigger reset to help with all that slop. Also Glocks service is 2nd to none as they have always taken care of any issue we have had at no charge but shipping and this is on old guns with many rounds through them, the only thing I have seen in 9 years is a few (less than 5) extractors break.

I must be in error. But that is the number that sticks in my head. It has a tactical rail and a few other custom things done. Defenitly a full size frame and 40 cal.

And a correction the HK I shoot was a poly gun. But I'm not much for a gun that will let a case split, even if it is crap ammo. It did it on a few different batches of it too. I finally convinced him to quit useing it.
