Funny email that probably ain't s'posed to be!

Just got an email from the City of Cedar Rapids Iowa soliciting for a new fire chief. Here's part of it;

"I would like to apologize for this electronic “cold call”. I understand that your time is precious and that “spam” is rarely worth reading. But this isn’t so much spam, as it is a creative way to tell people about a great position utilizing a non-existent advertising budget!

I hope we can help each other out as I have this great opportunity and you have contacts in the Firefighter world. So if you know someone who looking for a Chief position with a progressive, fiscally sound, community please pass this information along.
"

Now read the under-lined, bolded statements. I found it amusing they could be 'fiscally sound' and have no money to advertise in a conventional manner at the same time.

Well I thought it was funny, guess you hadda be there.

It must be really bad off, you can deduct advertising from your taxes...

Progressive must mean they start off paying you with non-existing dollars than progress to letting you drive a non-existant fire truck.

I think Yuma put out an email ad similar to that for a cycle patrolman. Ended up the sucessful candidate had to supply his own Yamaha cycle.
