Fuel surcharges
When prices of fuel were climbing quickly, LOTS of companies started adding the fuel surcharge to help cover the increased costs. I was upset but I see their point and agreed to it. They still need to make money.
I have noticed that all the shipping companies (for example) are still adding the fuel surcharge. I had to ship a package FedEx that was 5 lbs and there was a $4.xx surcharge to the total price still
I wonder if this is a charge that will ever go away if the fuel prices stayed low? I doubt it!!

Here's the formula used.http://www.fwccinc.com/surcharge.html . There will be a surcharge unless fuel goes below $1.15 a gallon . Most carriers adjust the FSC weekly . With fuel dropping as it has lately anybody not dropping the charge will lose customers . The FSC is an advantage for hotshotters . They can show shippers that they only use half as much fuel as a Class 8 semi so the FSC is only half as much .
Some businesses figure the FSC a different way and may not adjust it . Schwann's food service charges $1 an order but will waive it if it may cost them a customer . Airlines are not reducing the FSC on tickets as they should be .
