fuel milage gadet on the show "trucks"

Anybody watch trucks this weekend. They are testing a gadet to increase mileage, it hooks into the fuel line before the filter. They are using it on a 06 mega cab. They ran a few tanks of fuel through it to get a base fuel milage and it was 21.6 mpg. Looked like they just took it off the overhead. Next show they will show what the gadet does.

I believe it was the fitch fuel catalyst.

I've seen it advertised for years... jury's still out on that one.

Gotta put some tacks on the go pedal and drive barefoot if you want good fuel mileage first...

the thing that has be concerned is the resetting the truck computer upon installation of the fitch. they didn't reset before taking their initial reading.

do you mean that they reset the overhead after installation? i would think that the overhead should be left as is, so you can see how the running fuel economy has changed.

No, they disconnected the batteries for 30 minutes to clear the computer.

My dad put fuel catalysts on his 92 and 93 Chevy TBI 350's, they reduced the pinging, was really bad on the 93 burb with 3.42's, and other than that I don't think they did much. But it was VERY noticeable on pinging.

I didn't catch the show but why are they unhooking the batteries for 30 mins to clear the computer if they are just splicing it into the fuel line?

i've looked into the fitch catalyst before, and most people seem to think it does a good job of keeping fuel fresh in motors that don't get run much. as for people who use it in vehicles that get frequent use, most say that they think they might be seeing a 1 mpg improvement, but it might be that they're just paying more attention to how they're driving, and that there is no noticeable hp gain. there are also many who say not to use the supplied hose clamps, as they quickly loosen, causing fuel to spray under the hood.
