Fishing in Austin, TX in late March?

I'm going to visit a buddy who moved to Manor, TX in January. I'll be there on the 23rd of March and we'd like to do some fishing. Where's a good place to go, and to fish for what? I'm assuming crappie and bass should be biting. On Texas Park and Wildlife website I found Granger and Walter E. Long lakes. Are these any good? Any other additional information would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick

I haven't yet fished Granger lake, but according to TP&W it's one of Central Texas' "best kept secrets for fishing and hunting". I hope to get out there soon and give it a try.

Fayette County Lake (just east of LaGrange) is excellent for bass fishing.

The fishing is usually very good on 6th street.
When I was younger, (long time ago) I have caught many limits of rosy lipped street bass + a few catfish.

Actually I'm flying to Houston with my girlfriend, so she can see one of her friends there, then renting a car to drive to Austin! I can help my buddy look for some "rosy lipped street bass", though!

Best Steak in Texas is on 6th street at a hole in the wall place called Hoffbrau Steakhouse. Address is: 613 W Sixth St, Austin, TX
If you like steak you won't want to miss this, I guarantee you will LOVE it. They only serve steaks that they get fresh at the meat market each morning. No menu, they just tell you whats available and you pick and tell em how you want it cooked.

Just be careful that your "rosy lipped street bass" isn't a transvestite known locally as "Leslie". You'll know him when you see him. He'll be wearing a thong.

Word of mouth. I've never been on 6th street except while driving between the jobsite and the office.
