Firefighters, or Part Time Workers.

Hey guys, I was wondering what u guys did while yall weren't at work. Like most Firefighters they have another job or two. i was wondering what that may be. I was thinking about welding or something? Just curious.
Thanks.

Unfortuneatly being a firefighter is not something you do to get rich. Most have to have a second job for making up for the shortfalls of the pay. So if you want to be a welder and a firefighter, then go for it. One will be for the benifits( ie medical, dental, retirement, etc) and the other to pay for your diesel fuel, and a few extra beers

Perfectly stated, I work as a heavy truck mechanic, tow operator/recovery specialist for the same co. I worked for before I changed careers. The sad truth is, I make more at my part time job, than I do as a firefighter at one of the busiest departments in the entire state.

I work part time for a 3rd party private ambulance service. Most of the time I work a 12 hour shift on the ambulance, so I work 24 at the FD, then 12 on the ambulance, then go home and have 1 day off.

Being a Volunteer firefighter doesnt pay well either, like.. not at all.... I love to serve my community though and dont even care about getting money for it. And BTW I am a welder as well...
