faster than a harley!!!
bulabula - you beat me to it.......magna
....guys, it's getting deep in here. I need to borrow Redlegs chesthighs.
now the 1000 suzuki is pretty fast...also, look out for the 2004 ZX-10-R or whatever they call it...the new gsxr-750 is supposedly rated at 130 HP and around 380 lbs....I think. I suffer fron CRS and cannot remember the exact dry weight. These are 10 second bikes.
There are fast Harleys too. All depends on how much money you have....there is always someone faster. Same with these trucks...mess around with the wrong one and get smoked. It's a mute point.

I use to eat V65s for lunch with my 1982 Kawasaki GPz1100. I have a hard time believing a stock V65 would go 176mph. The fastest I could get V65 to go is about 145mph.
Yep, Harleys are slow. I found out it's much more fun cruising at 55mph than at 110mph. If I want to go fast I just borrow the family's Porsche 911, AC Cobra or the Subaru WRX STi.

From: Waynesboro Ga ...Haul custom Motorcycles
I've rode Harley's for 39 years and most are great for cruising but without major engine work they are not speed demons, They leave the sanding start petty good but die out quickly because of the gearing and low horsepower
I've since started building custom bikes and my personal bikes are big motor high horsepower engines....my everyday rider is a 127 ci motor with dyno horsepower of 142 HP to the rear wheel...durning a informal speed run that was clocked on radar by some friends (cops) I clocked 157 MPH and I shut it down before my red line because of wheel wobble
I know theres no street car or truck thats going to smoke me on the streets even tho some have tried......I have made the offer to many other bike riders to race for title cards, the rules are we both hit 100 MPH then the race starts we race for 5 miles and the winner gets the title card of the losers motorcycle.....I've only had 1 guy with a Big Dog that wanted to race he lost but I didn't take his bike either "he did buy a steak dinner for me"
Photos of a few of my 10 motorcycles.....the tag office loves me when I renew my plates

Nice stable there Pappy. I did get a little worked up when I saw it titled 3some. But the bikes are cool too!
Those high speed wobbles/weaves are NOT for the faint hearted. And just like cars/trucks (more important on bikes, IMO) is to make sure the tires are rated for that kind of speed.

Wow; CruisingRam is in the Guinness book of world records. What closed course did you ride your bike on for the record? Was your closed course in Alaska too? I don't have a copy from 1985, are you listed by name? Or are you merely happy with taking credit for it?
Hmmm, "Design Speed" for a V65 Magna. What the heck is design speed? I call that "bar speed". A Magna on a Closed Course - I bet thats what Honda had in mind for that puppy.
Since you posted that you collect those Books, maybe you could post a pic of that page with you and your bike on it for us all to see.
CR, lastly, your pic isn't a V65 Magna either. hehehehe
I wonder if you even own a bike; it sounds like you're a disgruntled wannabee.
You should ride a tc88 - not bad ......
Ride Safe.

Hoss, its draining to read that kind of immature trash talking. Presumably some folks feel better after "walking on" other brands (be it motorcycles, other truck brands, engines...) via verbal/written abuse. That good feeling soon vanishes and its back to where they were in the beginning. Its an honor and respect thing - in the same vein as whats found in The Great Commission. Ya think?
I don't ride a Harley, but have friends & family that do; we respect each other no matter what we ride. Its easier to give a friendly wave, rather than a spiteful flip of the bird. Maybe the guy can't afford a new H-D and thats his way of reconciling his emotions, I dunno. Quite frankly, I like all kinds of bikes and don't feel the need to arbitrarily put any down.
Challenge? Yeah, I'd love to see CR and his lawnmower outrun a V-ROD.
Probably a good time to put this back OT.

I picked up this bike in 1987 for 2200 bucks- and it still will run low 11s with me on it all day, and with a smaller guy is easily a 10 second bike, bone stock (I have managed to squeeze one 10,99 out of it in a whole summer of bracket racing, have a handfull of 11.00 slips) -it will get more mileage, handle better, go up to have 176mph top speed, and do it all more comfortably.
Harleys are for the RUBs IMO- Rich urban bikers. I think my lawnmower will beat a V-rod LOL

My first bike was a harley 89' 883 sporty. Fun lil' bike but not as performance filled as sportbikes. Took a 6 hour ride on my first sportbike, never looked back at that rattling, vibrating harley. I called the bank and bought an 02' GSXR750 2 days after that ride on the "jap bike". Needless to say I wont ever buy a harley again. Also had a 00' suzuki TL1000R for a bit.

wow! What a heated disscussion all over a man relaying a story. I like all types of bikes but prefer the good old harleys and indians because they have been developed and manufactured primarily in the USA. The only bike that I own is a 1984 Kawasaki 100 enduro. Someday I'd like to own a H-D or indian for occasional cruising with often burst's of high speed excitement. When I started riding it was nothing about how I look riding, but a feeling of relaxation while I was riding and even after I had put the bike away for the night.
Ahh.. good old crotch rockets. My friend was in traction for a few months after almost killing him self. Hes smart. Didnt take the FREE safty course. Didnt have a permit. Was driving at night, speeding, pulling a wheelie and hit a tree. Smart Smart man....
