Ever have one of those days??
Sometimes it just doesn't pay to get out of bed...
About 10 days ago, one of Texas' finest pulled me over. Wasn't speeding or doing anything stoooopid, so I was pretty concerned as to what warranted the stop. The nice officer comes up to the window and states he pulled me over for not having mud flaps on my truck. My first response was "You're kidding!", immediately ammended with "Of course you're not."
So anyway, I get a warning. Find that my switch to the window has crapped out and drive to work in 40 degree temps and rain. Lovely. Going to be one of those days. Ended up cutting the wires to the switch, swapping 'em around so I could at least get the window up.
Yesterday I figure I better get my butt in gear and put the flaps on. Hit every stinking auto parts store in town, and nobody has the proper size for the truck. They're either too big, or too small. Great. Gotta go to the dealer and pay HIS price for a set. **sigh** 50 bucks later, I have a set.
Get home, dig out all the tools for the job and start removing the old bolts on the brackets. Snap all 6 off. No big thing. Toss all the tools into the truck and head over to Tractor Supply Co. 6 bolts and a packet of rivets later, I'm headed back home. Dig the tools out again and realize that I don't have a drill bit in the size I want to drill the holes into the flaps. **sigh** Pack the tools up again and head back to TSC. Get the bit and head back home.
Got the holes drilled and started to attach the first flap. Ducky! I forgot the bloody washers! Pack everything up again, go BACK to TSC and get the washers. Back home, unpack everything and FINALLY get the flaps installed.
Stand behind the truck to view my handy work and discover the left flap is 1 and a half inches lower than the right. Screw it. They're on! Geeeeeeeeeeeez!!!!!!

Please say it ain't so Hoss!
Maccandy, I did have flaps on the truck at one point in time. However, if they hang down low enough, they're pretty easy to tear off when you back up and your tires get between the flap and a curb. I just never got around to replacing them, and didn't realize they were required when I moved back home earlier this year.
