Ever Have One Of Those Days?

I needed to move some hay so I get the flat bed trailer and hitch it up to the mighty CTD. First load goes off with no problems at all. I take off for the farm 20 miles away and notice a little bouncing. I see I had left it in 4x4 (snowy driveway) so I let off the go peddle and put her back to 2X4. Seems to have taken care of the bouncing, but I notice the EGT's are 100 degrees higher than the 1st trip. I get to the barn where the hay is at and go to set the E- brake. That's when I realize I LEFT THE E- BRAKE ON FOR 20 MILES! I thought it was the weight of the trailer! I was dragging the rear brakes!

I get out of the truck and I can smell brakes BAD! I cooked the rear brake shoes BAD! Spent the next 3 hours taking them off and wire wheeling the surface to get the glaze off. They seem to be okay and don't vibrate any more.

Be careful out there!

I just had one of those days Friday.....went out to go snowplowing and sideswiped a lightpole puting a good dent in my cabcorner and scraping the stainless rocker panels, then my running lights on my plow went out, and by the end of the day my truck wouldn't shift out of 4WD(I'm still trying to figure out why). Don't feel bad.

That is a good idea! The wheel bearing were even pretty hot too. I might even change the differential fluid, it's due anyway.
