Spots, I suppose you COULD eat it....but I certainly wouldn't. Catfish above the 3-4 pound range just don't taste as good in my opinion. Besides, I prefer bass or crappie.

It puts a new meaning to the fisherman's expression "It was thiiiissss big".
It everything is bigger in Texas, does that mean the lies fishermen tell are also bigger? ( Now don't tell me that Texan's don't lie)

Yes. That thing started out as a Great White.

I gotta say though....the facial expression of the guy on the right kind of scares me.

There are fences along that lake where folks have hung the heads from the Channel Cats. Some are bigger than what's in that picture.

I can relate to catfish this large. 12 years ago in the San Jacinto river behind my house, an old man and myself pulled 2 (110 &108 pound) opelousas catfish off of the same trot line 6 hooks apart from each other. Talking about filling the bottom of a jon boat!!!

We skinned, filleted and put away quite a load of meat. As far as taste, I grilled it and had no one gripe about being fishy or gamey. The backbones of these fish make for some mighty tasty 2" thick steaks to boot!!!!

Well boy's you can have my portion of the catfish stew. lets see now how about 1 of the following
Yellowbelly perch sauteed in a liitle butter and peanut oil and rolled in cornmeal and flower ( also works for proper sized cat fish)

Deep fried walleye fillets mix drakes coating with just enough beer to make a pancake like batter dredge the fillets throug the batter and let the excess drip off then put them in deep fryer at about 360 degrees. (I like mine goled brown and a little cruncy)

fresh salmon steaks grilled a liitle pepper salt a few onions and lemon slices a little olive oil (heart smart) brushed on fillets .

Or fresh smoked Salmon with a barley pop.

Holey smokes I just got up from dinner and now I'm hungry again.

welcome aboard Blackjack Sportfishing
