Ergonomics - future Ram?

can we post stuff on there that DC coulda/woulda/shudda do on the next generation/revision to the RAM?

minuses:
Automatic headlites on the switch like the PSD. I hate GM's auto lites (blind security guards going on base, shine in neighbors windows if I back in late at nite). but I like just putting the PSD's on AUTO if I had a bunch of stuff on my mind.

the Fog light indicator, under the switch, behind the steering wheel, hidden by the turn signal.

the auto dimming mirror really needs a "contrast" style ****.

programming stuff: I have tried 5 times to unprogram the dang seatbelt dinger. Gonna have to cut the d*n wires or something. There's a ton of times I just want to move 20 feet without that bleepin POS screaming at me, and having to explain to everyone I've ever given a ride to that DC thinks I'm too stupid to manage my own seat belt.

and the horn "honk" when you set the alarm, ???

can they PLEASE just make it where the text optoins scroll across the radio display (not good if you change radios) or the ODOMETER display, then you tap the cruise, or turn signal, or foot brake, to scroll and select in the menu. None of this super secret decoder ring crap.

pluses:
i REALLY like the floor mat holder on the driver side.

like the fact that the passenger side floorboard is not tiny like the PSD.

overhead console is really accurate.

hth? ( i luv my truck.... )

That seatbelt thing drove me crazy. One of the first things I did was undo it. If I remember the manual had an error. I think it said to do a bunch of stuff then "start the truck" -- I could not get this to work. But, do the same thing but instead of starting, just turn the key to the "on" position--worked right away. I've been a happy camper every since.

My biggest beef on this rig is the seats. After an hour or two in the saddle my buns hurt. I only weight 180, maybe I don't have enough padding . I'm sitting right on the metal support brackets under the seats. It needs more padding or something really bad.

Here's one I noticed on the 2nd Gens, I don't know if they've changed it for the 3rd Gens or not. If the power windows can go down with one push, why not up, too? And another one that changed somewhere in the 2nd Gen model run--on my 95, the cruise control stayed on when turned on and didn't reset to off when the truck was turned off. Much more convenient.

Won't happen. They are worried that small children will put their heads out the window then push the button, wammo

I liked whiskey when I was a teenager.

I just want the turn signal lights to be in the flip up mirrors. Great for big loads.

Natural selection, I say. BMWs do it.

Hey guys concerning AUTO UP on the window(s). One of the neat things I hear on TV praising the Pacifica, although I don't know this first hand, is the window goes back down automatically when the window strikes something and changes direction in about 1 second. Can anyone verify this?

This feature seemed to pop up overnight on many of the new SUVs and trucks. Dodge seems a little behind on this new trend. In my opinion, its a great new feature. I hope they include it.

I know on my Dakota they could disable the horn chirp if you ask them to.
They could also change when the doors auto lock (when you put it in gear or at 15mph).
I'm sure there is other stuff they could change to, it's just in how it's programed.

My wifes 03 Honda Accord does the auto up with the drivers side window. I haven't tested to see if it hit something on the way up that it will go back down. I will test it and report back.

the wife & i ride with the radio off & talk, so it just echoes in there.
would not be prob if the motor was noiser...maybe a straight pipe, eh?

I was thinking more along the lines of a block of wood or something like that.

So far I'm very pleased with the ST ergonomics, but since someone is asking:

1. Maybe two to three more inches of leg room in the rear seats, for the long legged folk. The seat height is nice as it reduces the need for more leg room, but a couple of more inches would dampen some of the complaints that I hear in this forum.

2. Have the AC button work in all modes. I want to control when the AC runs, and often want to turn it off on the defrost when the truck warms up. It's ok to have it automatically turn on but let me turn it off when I want.

3. Much better mirrors, at least as an option. I'd like to see 'European type' mirrors, which offer a nicely corrected view between the regular and wide angle mirrors seen in the US. Make 'em big as I want to see traffic in lanes on both sides of the truck, and ideally also see my rear wheels.

4. In my opinion anything but a black fabric covered dash is dumb due to reflections. I had to add an aftermarket dash cover.

5. Seal up, or at least offer a kit to seal up the bed for use with a canopy. As is a LOT of CO ends up in the bed, and I'm surprised more dogs aren't killed.
