Electrical Q - 240v Compressor on 50 amp CB
Electrical Q - 240v Compressor on 50 amp CB
I have a 50 amp 240v welder receptacle in my garage, is it ok to put a 15 amp 240v air compressor on it?
I will not use both at the same time. I made a plug for my 240v compressor to plug into the 50 amp recept.
Concern is, if something shorts on the compressor, will the circuit breaker trip to slow or late, cause its 50 amps, not say 20 amps.
Theres an overload protection reset on the motor already.
Thanks

No problem to do it that way. If it makes you feel better, set another panel with a single breaker for the compressor at the outlet for the welder with the appropriate sized breaker for the compressor.
