Electric brake wiring

I just bought a 16.5' X 8.5' Flat bed tandem axle trailer in an auction. It has electric brakes. I bought it really right $$$ knowing I will have to fix some wiring etc, likely just rewire it actually.

The electric brakes have two wires running to each hub assembly.... I assume one must just go to vehicle ground and the other carries power from the actuator???

Never wired brakes before so I don't know.

Thanks

For best results, the second wire should go back to ground through the 7-pin connector - one of the terminals is a ground. Otherwise, you're relying on the hitch to mechanically connect truck chassis ground to trailer chassis ground.

Yep that's what I meant by going to vehicle ground (ie. tow vehicle ground)

Does it matter which one you ground and which one you power??

Thanks.

If the brake magnet wires aren't color-coded, then polarity shouldn't matter.

Polarity shouldn't matter. Just don't go cheap and run 16 awg wire for heavens sakes! Use 12 or 14 awg minimum. Those wires will heat up if you are sitting at a light with your brake pedal mashed depending on your controller.
