If they hook up to your ODB2 port the code will still show up. In Texas they sometimes do hhok up, and sometimes just look at the dash for a engine light.

they just look at light ,if it goes on when you turn key on and if light goes on in a few seconds you are good to go.

You can get time delay relays in about any configuration you want. Look at places like digikey.com, or mouser.com

I could design the spoof circuit for you, but it is not worth the risk to me.

It would probably help if you had your truck listed in your signature so people would know what you have; year, model, etc. It would also help if you posted the question in the correct section that corresponds to your truck instead of the 'Other' section. Not everybody looks in here with any regularity.

If they just look at the light and if you have already isolated the wire I dont see why rebal's or j martin's suggestions wouldnt work.

I know this is a dumb question. ( the kind I'm really good at ). Why not just fix the underlying problem properly, and have it over with?

There is a time to quick rig things, such as to get a unit to the shop or home, and there is a time to repair them properly. I used to do commercial vehicle inspections, and I got to find a LOT of fixes like the ones you are talking about. Then, faint of heart be warned, failure is imminent. Not fun for the owner of the unit, or for me.

Good luck with the inspection
