I bought a 4piece Dewalt tool set off of ebay 3 weeks ago. Never got in the mail so I started emailing him. 3 emails later and still no response so I had to start a paypal response. I told him he has until Monday to get in contact with me or Im filing official dispute with paypal/ebay where they investigate...theres really no investigation. I paid immediately, he never responded to me or sent the items. Okay Im done raging.
I used to get rooked on E-Bay all the time. Some sellers are reputable and others are a load of crap. I think 50% of E-Bay sellers are people sitting in Korea or Africa selling stuff, collecting our money, and taking off.
Another 10% are people who stole someone else's account and is using it to collect money.
And the other 40% are actual people who care about customers and people they sell to.

Yeah. This guy was 100% on 10points. Figured it was alright, just some independent cleaning his house...Either way, I should get my set or get my money back through paypal.
I got hosed a couple years ago by a guy with a 100% rating. He got it by buying a bunch of really cheap junk and paying for everything quickly. After he got his feedback he would cancel his money orders and the people would lose their money and then can't change their feedback. He then proceeded to sell a bunch of Cummins parts that he never had and within a weeks time he stole about $6000 from several of us and he is now banned. Other than that I have not had any issues buying on e-bay....
It's not a 100% cure, but using the Feedback ratings (and LOOKING back through the feedback to see what was said!) is a good way to cut your losses. Here's a nifty tool to check out the negatives - remembering that there are idiot BUYERS as well as crooked sellers.

I've got ONE neg in all these years - and that was an idiot seller - she was a definite psycho, I chatted with several other people she's left awful comments on.

I just got riped off today. Not huge, I got the item, but it wasn't "NIB, never used"!
Ebay needs to revise their feedback policy. As a buyer, once I have sent payment, my part of the deal is complete. But most sellers wait until you as the buyer, leave feedback for them. The seller should be required to post feedback immediately after payment is received! If they did this, the feedback would have more credibility, instead of this "if you leave positive for me, I'll leave positive for you" crap.

I got ripped off on ebay a few months ago on some tools I bought, the guy only had a couple feedbacks but they were positive and I was new to ebay so I didnt know any better. I had to file a claim and ended up getting my money refunded through paypal. I have since then bought like 30 or 40 things with no problems. Every now and then you just run into a bad apple I guess.
I bought a drill from some screwball in California a couple months ago. I paid like $12.00 so I should have known it was going to be junk. It was some Chinese POS that didn't even spin true. It wobbled! I e-mailed the guy and he could care less because he never said it was a good drill in his listing. I left him a neutral feedback and threw it in the trash....
I learned my lesson on that one.... (I hope!)
I still need a good 1/2" drill.....

I have only purchased one thing on E-Bay it was a $1200 generator that I failed to read the fine print on. He took the money right away (indicated payment required on close of auction) but the item was not shipped for 4 weeks (that was the fine print I missed, as he did not actually have the generator in stock).
I got a negative rating from him and some rotten comment as I did not leave him a positive rating, actually I did not leave him a rating at all as I was not sure if it was required. Oh well.

I got jipped out of about $1400 on ebay back when it was "new". Bought a set of bumpers for my old CJ-7, the guy had 20 some feedback, all positive but for XJ's. I was the first to buy a set for the CJ's. I sent him a check, waited and waited and waited, never got anything. I emailed him, called him, everything, and couldn't get a hold of him. Well I kept his address from the check I wrote him, and last year on one of my horse runs I had to go right by his town in Utah anyways. I made a stop at his shop, talked to him, then told him what he had done to me, he knew who I was and apologized, I didn't want to hear that but whatever. I told him I wanted $1500 in my hand by the time I swung by on my way back (3 days later) and if I didn't get it he'd be a lot more sorry than when I showed up the first time. He had his mother give me the cash when I got back to his shop, he was nowhere to be found. She handed me an envelope, and told me she was ashamed of her son and I left knowing he wouldn't do it again.
Probably not a smart move on either of our parts, but whats right is right.

Has anyone disputed through paypal? Im gonna dispute it tomorrow, cause I know he wont answer. Just wondering what the odds of me getting my money back are....
I buy and sell on Ebay. A rule I go by is that if the seller doesn't have very many points than I do not buy from them. 100% or not, I don't care. I usually sit there and read through their feedback as far back as I can to see what the problems are/were and decide from reading those. I would think you should get your money back either way with the paypal buyer protection. I've been lucky and haven't had any trouble so I'm not sure how it will go for you. Hopefully you do get it back.
