Ebay CTD
Ebay CTD
I was bidding the other night on a 97 CTD engine. It was rebuilt with a 3yr/36000 mile warranty on it. I bid $2577.77 on the engine but got outbid by a bid of $2627.77 but the reserve wasen't met. I got an E-mail saying that the winning bidder backed out and it is being offered to me.
What do you think I should do? Thats a great deal but I don't understand how it got back to me unless they took the reserve off after it was over and the other bidder wasen't ready to come up with the money.

I buy and sell on E-Bay and that is not uncommon for a seller to offer it to the next lowest bidder when the high bidder backs out (which is quite common), the seller may (probably) will sell the item directly to you without running it through E-Bay to avoid the sellers fees, also quite common......I would be very careful in the purchase and not exchange any money till you recieve the item unless you go through an escrow service or other trusted way of exchange. You can usually tell if a seller is honest and credible by their feedback, but that is no guarantee...I have bought several vehicles and other expensive items on E-Bay and haven't gotten burned yet......I would call the guy and arrange to meet him and do the deal in person or a trusted represenative do it for you.....Good Luck........

Its a company thats selling the engine and they have great feedback. I got an E-mail saying that it could be done though Ebay which is the way I would want to do it. I'm trying to post the item but its not working right.

Seller seems OK, been a member for over a year although most of his feedback totals were purchases not sales, is currently not offering anything for sale, can't tell much else by the listing. I think I would check on prices locally for comparison, like an in-frame rebuild or total rebuild if you really need one before deciding to buy. The freight on that motor would probably be $100- $150$.?, don't really know + the warranty would probably be useless to you living 2500 miles away unless it is a nationwide type through a franchised system of truck shops, if you do buy it I would pay with a credit card because if there are problems the card company will usually back you up......don't know what else to tell you without more info.........Wonder why they rebuilt it? Blown up? Worn out? Just a thought?

Whan I put it on it had my-ebay on it and I thought that any one could go to it
I didn't want my info out on the net. I think it is a good buy at $2500.00. I don't need a new engine now but it would be nice to have it sitting in the garage
I would like to find a head that I could have reworked and still drive my truck(no down time)
Thanks for your input
