Earthquake 4-18-08

Anyone else feel this morning's earthquake around the midwest, Indiana, Illinios, etc.......??

G/F and I were sound asleep, woke up to the sounds of various things shaking in our bedroom. Woke up and turned on the news and they came back from commercial to announce they had felt the tremors too. They said it's a 5.4 magnitude. I remember we had a little one a few years ago, 02 I think but this one was a lot stronger. Freaky!!

I was driving to work when I heard it on the radio.......never felt a thing though..... . I was sitting in my dad's barber chair in '02(?) when the last one hit. Kind of felt like a train coming really fast, but they usually go pretty slow. ( his barber shop is near the R/R tracks ) Heard the glass bottles on the shelf rattle a little bit, but the one thing I thought was freaky was how the power lines dipped down and back up while it happened.

woke me out of a dead sleep...thought that either a tornado had gone through or a tree had blown down onto the house.

Heard it more than felt it up here in MI.

Weird thing is that it today's quake occured, 102 years to the HOUR, of the great Sanfrancisco quake of 1906.

Yeah, I felt it.
Wife had just left to work and I was awake laying on the couch.
I thought my 2 year old had got up and was running through the house.

Lasted 40 seconds to 1 minute.

I wasn't bothered until the big jolt that happened midway through it and then I jumped up to shield my 4 month old from the ceiling fan.
I also remember the one in 02 (I think as you mention) funny thing was I was on the couch for that one too! LOL!!

Woke me up in northern Illinois, it was like we had a washing machine out of balance upstairs. Not alarming but pretty neet. Here is a link http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/...42.-95.-85.php Click on the square and it will give you a data screen.

i just re-woke up, lol. I was up for a good hour or so watching the news coverage. I guess there was a facade that fell from a building down in Louisville, but it was probably already loose or damaged to begin with and just needed a little shakin' to go over. Good thing it didn't happen in the middle of the day when people might have been walking beneath it.

I don't know how those Californians handle it out there. That was a just a 5.4 from what they say, and I was about to do some duty in my drawers if it hadn't stopped shortly after I woke.

Im renting very close to train tracks in Lafayette In. Slept through the shaking, did here a few car alarms though. Living in Cherry Point North Carolina definitly made me a deep sleeper. Ever have a Harrier fly over your house during the night?

My neighbor said he heard/felt it here - I didn't feel or hear anything and I am a pretty light sleeper - I think he is crazy....

He said he thought it was a big wind gust hitting the side of the house, but it wasnt windy here over night...soo....
