DTR's History

You don't know how true that statement really is we have issues from time to time with people, but the guys that call me and try to work through the issues are STILL here...
I could name some recent examples but I don't want to embarass anyone... The basic truth of the matter is, the guys that stand up and take responsibility for their actions, get treated with respect because they EARN it by being honest and forthright.
We all make mistakes, how we deal with them is the true mark of our character.

I remeber joining this site when I was 15. Its been a great learning experience. Back then 480ishp was the highest at a dyno competition. Banks still made 1st gen parts. The HX-40 was king. So much has changed. Little did I think I was going to a chapter president for this site back in 2002. Thanks for a great site Jack and all the mods/admins.

Keep in mind when you look at those stats, you'll see the page view and hit count go down over the last 6 months or so. That's not because we've lost traffic. It's because I've taken portions of the site and spread them out across multiple servers. You're only seeing stats now for the forums and a few other things. Ads, chat and some other items have been moved off. The wiki is also on its own machine.
As for graphs, I have cacti graphs but those are password protected on another machine. I've posted some though..

A couple more
In all of these yearly graphs, you'll notice that load and cpu goes way down in may and then again in july. two things happened. I implemented site caching as well as pushing stuff off onto a cdn. At the same time, I split up services between servers. the biggest gain i got was from changing the user list on the forum page from alphabetical to random. Every time someone hit the forum front page, the db would have to do a full table scan, then sort all of the names. that was a huge load on the servers!!!

Chapter President
Quite the ride Jack.. I was brought here by Scotty just as I let my membership lapse over at the TDR. Thanks again for the new home. Been here since 02 and haven't thought of leaving. (I was also on the CDW before it was the TDR.)

back in 2003, I was lookign for a new truck to replace a Ford 4-door one ton with teh non-turbo 6.9( real dog)....I wouldnt buy another diesel because I was so disappointed with that one until the BOSS found this site, had me start reading it, and after a few months, I got my first CTD and wouldnt have anything else now...
I have learned SOOOOOOO much here, and made some good friends too!
best site on teh web, as is attested to by how much time I spend here....
got my own mug and my own spot on the break room couch shaped to my backside now...
Speaking of the HAC, has anyone heard from ol' Hoss recently???

Hehe, same username on this board since 11/2001.
It's fun, clean and I get to read modern English as it is used in the US. And if I use the language like I read it on this forum I won't be embarrassed/embarrassing my partner in the conversation.
I had a lot of discussions (especially on some opinions) and cultural clashes over the time- which has been very educating to me.
I've learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I hope this will continue, but it still amazes me that I've been on here when we could have held a complete forum meeting in a medium sized cafe...
