The A/C in this building is basically a swamp cooler..... Got a deep well with cold water piped through a sort of condenser in the air ducts..... works a bit but the discharge line isn't buried deep enough and it freezes solid in the winter and doesn't thaw until sometime in June.......

I'm working the a unit that has mostly females, PC, and a little bit of Segregation.

At least I can walk around a bit.

Evenin..

Ok, done painting. Got the fan on it, just gotta put everything back together tomorrow.

Ya know, I've been in construction all my life, figured I would not pull a boneheaded stunt like I did tonight... the wooden trim on the bottom of my side garage door was coming loose, so I grabbed a small trim nail, and small hammer, and tacked it up. Funny thing, the nail was not going in straight, so I reached back down to pull it back up, and BAM! Split the side of my bird finger, lifted the nail... I got it good. I have not squished the meat out of one of my fingers in a LOOONG time... It's singing right now, too...

Ok, I'm out. Until tomorrow.

I think maybe you misunderstood me Tim. They aren't just running with 3 to a truck, they're running with 3 to a STATION. Some stations have 3 engines, a ladder and a rescue. That means 1 guy to a truck, second due companies either non-existent if they're already committed somewhere else, or at the least, many minutes out.

Morning all. No history right now, got to run.

MY COUSIN`S HUSBAND -NOW RETIRED FROM FLINT FD TELLS US THAT THINGS ARE SO BAD THERE TO CONSERVE MONEY THE CHEF & CAPTAINS ARRIVE AT FIRES IN THEIR FD CAR- NO OTHER RIG COMING AS THEY ARE ALREADY COMMITTED - IF THE FIRE IS LARGE THEY USE A 15# CANISTER - IF ITS SMALL THEY URINATE ON THE FIRE -

THE POLICE DEP. WORKS ON THE PLAN THAT THEY ARRIVE AT A CALL- WAIT AROUND THE CORNER UNTIL ONE GOES DOWN - CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE & ARREST THE WINNER

OH AND HOPE THE PERK DOESN'T HAVE A GUN BECAUSE THEY DON`T HAVE MONEY FOR BULLETS -SO THEIR WEAPONS ARE EMPTY - THEY HAVE TO DEPEND ON THEIR PEPPER SPRAY OR TAZER (WITCH IS RECHARGEABLE)

Wink

all the old timers (10 years and up) are probably stressed out with their jobs. the younger ones probably don't care cause they figure they just have to 'show up' to get paid, so the changes don't matter much.

young cop in rochester NY city north of us, shot a dude if front of 50 people. kid had a meat cleaver to his own throat, cop shot him in the upper leg. kid had just cut on his girlfriend a block away and was in the street intersection upon the 01 arrival. he had to call for backup from the crowd. they thought that he should have been pepper sprayed, tazed, talked down.

so I am mixed feeling over what do i get for my high taxes nowadays from the politicians who control the budgets and sad that the police and fire system is shutting down ( by outsider pressure). that leaves the garbage trucks as the next citizen interface....who ya gonna call?

we do not have any police here, even a 911 call is still 20 minutes out for a response, so most folks here call another neighbor. ten or so years ago, some gang tried a home invasion when just my dad was home with us. they talked on the speaker as we have it fenced, they wanted his help for a car problem.
he called 911 and told them a suspicious car had broken down at the driveway, call a tow truck (heheh) but did not open the gate to let them in. when they jumped the gate, a large black german shepard put them back over it and they left, but smashed the intercom, lights, etc. we were proud of my dad but scared of what could have been. I can assure you, that will never happen again.

good on ya, tim! or is that King Tim? ehehe
Matt, jeesh- for married folks she spends a lot of time away (is it the iguana honey?)
mark, hope the landlord appreciates all the work. now- should a promotion occur- will you have to move?
back to normal! chaikwa on the training circuit! in a good mood I hope snicker snicker

ahh the call to party, got my fancy hat and secretariat glass.....

Nope. Won't have to move until I rotate, maybe another 2 years.

Good job, buddy!!! Knew you would.

Mornin. Slept in a little longer than I wanted to, but I'm not worried about it. I'm running up a sleep debt, need to work it off. Later.

Ok, gonna have some birthday cake for breakfast, couple more cups of coffee, and get to it. Probably wait till about 2 or 3 to move that stuff back over.

Evening everyone. Had an interesting day, never made it to the sale dad and I planned on going to. Had an issue on the way there. We took dads truck and trailer instead of mine. Normally we take my truck. The sale was a little over 2 hrs away and when we were about 20 miles from it we lost the rear driverside wheel on his truck. In plain terms... it fell off the truck!

I recently did the front brakes on the truck and looked it over. I even checked the torque on all the wheel nuts, truck and trailer. We had no issues while driving until the wheel came off. No noises, vibrations, or anything. Heard a rattle about 15 seconds before it came off the truck, dad was slowing down once he heard the noise and boom! The back end dropped and the wheel/tire went speeding into a corn field. Never found the brake drum, it went flying somewhere. I had to draw the studs back into the hub, they all came lose. Ended up putting the wheel back on and limping it home. Luckily we were on a 2 lane road that didn't have much traffic. If we were on the highway I'm sure there would have been a bad accident. I re-hecked the rest of the lugs on the other wheels and everything was fine.

A similar incident happened to a friend of mine a few years ago, he had a wheel come off his truck while pulling a loaded trailer. Flipped his trailer over with the load and sent the truck into a ditch. He thought it was weird too cause he always checks and double checks things before he leaves to haul something. I dunno, I'm just glad no one was hurt.

Dad and I ended up turning back towards home and stopped for a relaxing breakfast. Had to calm down with some eggs, sausage, and some hashbrowns at 0700.
