Here's my best results using DSL at "prime time".

56K Modem: 34-45K
ISDN/I-DSL: 100-120K
Your throughput: 716 K
Cable/ADSL: 229-950K

Cable modems do rock as long as your ISP is not throttling back and making you pay thru the nose to get full bandwidth like mine tried to do. By comparison, my DSL line costs me $29.99 while my Cable modem cost $34.99 for half the speed.
Oh, don't forget, these are download speeds only. Upload is usually a lot less.

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
Thats as high as I could get for now, but it is kinda prime time.
Yes I love my connection, there are two cable companies intown, I had the other one and it was so-so but when I switched to this one it blew the old one out of the water. Its about 3 times faster. And it has yet to go out on me as of yet.
Either way I am not compalining one bit 8)

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
We can't get anything like it... Heck toast is going to have to build a new chart for you!!!
Just tell everyone around you that it sucks so they won't get on you loop
But it looks like you have alot to share!!!!
Did you even see the a's downloading?
I liked the waterhose analogy of the cable loop that someone used. If there are no holes in it you get alot of flow but as they poke holes in it (make hook ups) the pressure drops overall.
What I DO know is your connection ROCKS!!! I have checked on T1 for my home office here (totally don't need it) and it was 500 - 600 per month and included 6 phone lines and it was no where near those speeds.

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
RoadRunner here, mainly because they got here before the phone company had DSL available and my girlfriend and I needed it for work. Average of those two previously posted tests is showing about 2mbps on my connection.
One thing in my favor on a cable modem connection is that I live in a pretty poor neigbhorhood, so I'm not sharing the bandwidth to the extent that some people are. If I had a machine I didn't care too much about, I'd hook it up directly and see how many computers turned up.

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
Well, I don't have these great results at my home :'(
But since they claim 512 down and 128 up a result saying 517 down and 101 up is not too bad.
Hope that it'll get back to snuff again- already had 1.5 M down and 800k up on the same connection.

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
Here's mine.
I have Sprint Broadband Direct, a wireless two way broadband connection that isn't available any more.
It wasn't making money for them so they stopped offereing it, limited support nowdays as well.
As soon as DSL or Cable is available in my area I'll be switching.
2 tests taken within 4 minutes of each other.

Re:DSL or Cable Modem??
DSL up and running now. Ran the TOAST test and my throughput was 1311 Kbs. I guess I can live with that. The same test with my 56K modem showed 32 Kbs.
