And here is another annoyance that I've noticed for a long time now, but just coming to a point to post it, and it is the"OIL PRESSURE" When Idling at 600 rpm's the oil pressure is at 275k. So far everything is fine. increase the rpm's just two to three hundred and the oil pressure drops a few lbs, until you increase the rpm's a little more and then the pressure comes back up to where it was at Idling. Just wanted to see if anyone else has heard or seen this.

275k ? Mine runs between 45 and 60 lbs maybe I am missing something here?

doesnt sound good to me but the fact that it comes back up is a good sign. the sending units work on impeadance. there sould be a problem with the sender or the gauge at that specific presure.
what does it run at with cold oil, hot oil at idle what does it go up to at cruise speed?

 

DF, There is not any difference cold or hot Idle, and at 2000 rpm cold or hot the pressure is the same. Its just that funny quirk at Idle, you increase the Idle from 600 by two or three hundred rpm's and the needle drops what looks like a lb or two, then comes back up as you raise the rpm's up to 1100.

 

And for all you folks out there that don't know the metric jargon the k or k/p after the number.........It stands for "Kilopascals" for pounds of pressure.

 

If it is that much of an annoyance why don't you do a mechanical oil pressure check and see if it is fine. Then the gauge is the culprit. If not you have a mechanical problem (assuming this is not the way they are) and NOW you can worry...

The sending unit IS part of the gauge system. (sending unit, wiring, controller, and indicator.)
Everything left of that is mechanical. (pump, brgs, galleries etc)
