Don, the mauser doesn't appear to be cut down but I have a friend thats a gunsmith, I'll have him look at to be sure. I'd like to keep this barrel due to it's markings. I also found it's a number matching mauser. The numbers on the bolt, barrel, floor plate, and other parts all read the same number which I've been told is pretty rare to find.

Okay so I just watched 2012. Besides it being a completely STUPID movie, I kinda thought it was interesting that the following were shown being destroyed:
The white house,
Christ the redeemer, above Rio De Janeiro (I believe that is where it is)
The Vatican (fell apart and crushed and rolled over thousands of worshipers),
The Washington Monument,
And a Tibetan temple.
Anyone want to guess which type of structure was NOT shown being destroyed????
Makes me sick...

Don, Ya got me. forgot all about Black Hawk Down. that one and we were soldiers are two of my all time favorites.
Matt, can't wait for the Pacific either. Although I was disturbed by Tom Hanks recent comments about our 'reasons' for fighting the Japanese. I always thought it was because they were cowards and pulled a surprise attack. So we kicked the bonzai out of em. Guess I was wrong all this time.

Jeff, I saw the previews for Pacific and it looks good. I didn't hear what Tom Hanks had to say about us fighting japan though.
2012 hasn't interested me one bit, maybe I'll watch it if nothing else is on TV.

Pacific looks good, 2012 can wait til somebody at work rents it. Russell Crowe is gonna be Robin Hood this summer. Trailer looks good.

I also like that movie but (as you probably know) the survivors of the real life slave labor building of those bridges despise that movie. Interviews with those poor guys (the ones who lived) make me feel guilty to eat a piece of bread. Supposed to have been around 100,000 civilians and well over 10,000 POW’s who died building the Burma railways. Oh well, the movie was good (esp for the late 50’s) and it did make a lot of people aware of some of the stuff that was going on. Yikes, I must be getting tired, next I will start trying to pick apart Band of Brothers (impossible)

As far as 2012, I wouldn't waste my time with it, even if someone else rented it. there are way more important things to do, that are way funner. Like hitting your front teeth with a BFH, slamming your wifes fingers in a car door, Bouncing a bat off your forehead. You know good productive painless things to do

It was really bad. I actually watched it because I heard the special effects were so good, but man... OK I will leave it alone now.
did I mention it was a bad movie???

Wonder if anybody would've taken Hanks as seriously back when he was dressing up like a woman for his bread and butter?
