Exclamation Dog attack

Got home last night to find my wife had been attacked and mauled by 3 dogs on her weekly walk. The dogs ran off when a car came by. She was bitten several times on the legs and arms. She was treated and released from the hospital last night. Animal control and the state troopers are looking for the dogs. My wife was carrying a gun, but was unable to access it during the attack. She is going to carry it differently for now on.

Hope she is going to be alright!!

A gun is great, but bear spray is easier to use and you don't have to worry about hitting obstacles downrange.

Well, if they don't find the dogs she will have to go through rabies testing.
That low growl is making me nervous.

Hope the find the pack of dogs and can check them so your wife don't have to do the rabies thing. Keep us updated. Those bites can do a lot of tissue damage.

That's horrible! Glad she made it out with minimal injuries tho. I guess it could have been much worse physically. Emotionally, it may take a while for her to recover from it.

Nasty stuff. I hope she finds out what the situation is with the dogs and perhaps they can be set up for target practice.

Are you sure the growling is a recent thing?

pepper spray is a double edged sword regarding dogs, if they are a breed that has an intense focus and is fully committed to the attack (hate to pick on pit bulls, but they are one of the breeds) the pepper spray can send them into a frenzy.

If they are blustering, or not fully committed then pepper spray can send them packing or break that attack cycle they get into.

I've also seen a series of pics where a gun shot pit bull killed an intruder, it was a horrible mess. The pit took a round right in its head above the eye but it skidded off its skull and tore a big chunk off the pits head....the pit then tore the intruders face, neck, skull cap, ears....well you get the idea it was just a bloody stump above his shoulders. The pit was just sitting there grinning with its toungue hanging out.

Sorry hear about that. Hope she can shake it off but its going to take time (personal experience).
We have some people in our area who are sort of new who think because they own 5 acres they can let thier dogs run without monitoring. Had to off two dogs (missed the other two) that were trying to kill a moose calf a couple of years ago. The owners never confronted me. I was hoping they would, so I could tell them what rotten people they were since I had to deal with killing dogs (I love dogs) because of them.

Just read the news about your wife. Man, that is horrible! Hope she recovers soon and is not overly traumatized about the attack. Also hope those dogs get tracked down quickly.
