dangit.

went to another buddy's house other night.

he got done eating, and let his dog lick his plate.

another Friend did that a while back.

most dogs I know, think the "magic well" is the best source of cool fresh water in the whole world.

mental note: take your own plate if you go eat at their house.

Sometimes.
I figure as long as we continue to wash our dishes with soap and hot water everything is fine. I guarantee everybody has has worse stuff in their mouth, or actually swallowed, than some dog saliva.

A dogs digestive track is actually far more delicate than ours, it is not good to feed your dog table scraps. I fed my Lab nothing but Purina for 15 years on the Vets advice and he was as healthy as a horse right up to the end.

Old age got him.... which is why I only eat Purina as well

I try but just the sound of one passing the house makes me want to chase it up the road

No, but we do scrape some left overs into thier bowls to eat. I don't want the dogs to associate my eating with thier eating. It cuts down on the begging. The left overs I give the dogs are mostly meat.

Now, be nice. Not everyone can afford a dishwasher.

My dog is not aloud in the kitchen while we eat. Not aloud to eat of the plates. Not aloud to get on the furniture (180 lb English Mastiff). Not aloud in the bed. Not aloud to enter a door till I go trough first. Not aloud to take food from my hand till I say so. Not aloud to eat treats till I say so.

Man, I'm a mean master.

I have to agree with most here. Mine was never allowed human food, except the weekly steak bone- served to her well after my meal was over. She was NEVER given scraps from the table, and never permitted to hang around the table to catch anything that may have fallen. I never had a problem with her begging for treats.

My dogs live outside. Unless there is a picnic in the yard they only get a chance at a scrap if my daughter takes a bit of left over meat scraps out to them after the meal. And then that is off the ground.

The cat (who needs to go live outside) doesn't get any.

The wife's position on pets eating off the plates "Not off the plate, ever!"
Couldn't agree with her more on that one.

My dog is not allowed to drink from my beer cooler either. No telling where her nose has been before is goes into the cooler!

Heck my dog thinks he owns the barbecue gas grill. every time I fire it up he comes and sits in front of it the whole time it is grill-in some meat. If he get any it goes in his bowl at his feeding time.

I'm a human I don't want to share my dinner plate with another species! Especially one that will give it's own backside a wash too!
