Question Do you guys think I can?

Ok, I have this buddy that works for my dad and he has a early model chevy. Not sure what year but the older body style. It's got a 350 and a manual clutch in it and for some reason he thinks he can pull me if I hook up to him. He has no mods because I have known him since he got the truck and there's nothing fancy on it. Now with my stock transmission do you think I can do it without hurting much or will it mess up my truck? We've agreed that as soon as one starts to pull the other we stop. Also if you think I will be ok, how should I do it? 4 wheel drive in firs gear and on Blacktop? Thanks for the help.....I really need to prove this guy wrong. Good guy but real cocky about his truck and he loves chevy.

Sounds like your friend is dillisional, no offence to him, but, just hold on the brakes and the extra weight of your rig will propably stop him dead, you gotta get someone to video that and post pics for us.

While I agree that this would be a hoot, my buddy fried the T/C in his 99 doing that with a F250. If at all possible do it in the dirt where the traction is not so stiff. Better yet, load a trailer to 20K pounds and see who can hit 60mph the fastest. Let us know.

That's a real good way to screw something up.

If the chain/rope/strap/whatever breaks during the "pull" someone's could get the loose end in the back of the head.

If you're still going to do this, the trick is to be the "High Hook".
If your attatchment point is higher than his, as soon as the chain goes taught, you'll effectively take all the weight off his rear tires.

If it was up to me,.....I'd pass, a lot to lose, nothing to gain.

Back in 1977 I had a brand new International Scout 4x4 had a 304hp 4speed manual. New Years eve party at a buddies house Half snockerd got hooked up to his Scout 4x4 345hp auto. WE were on packed snow I was out pulling him, think because I had lower gear ratio untill I threw the clutch & throw out bearing & all related parts out threw the bell housing. That little venture cost me $500.00 big ones, alot of money back then when my wages were only $5.00 an hour. My wife was for days.
If you do pull use a 50,000 lb nylon ******-em rope you can get from any 4x4 catelog. Tie a coat or blanket in the middle this way if the rope brakes that will prevent it from going thru either of your back windows. Do it on dirt

good luck

People been bragging about everything since time begin. Yank that truck around till he cries momma. When I was young sometime ago me and a bunch of my buddies use to go play in the mudd with our girlfriends in our trucks. they use to make fun of my truck cause I was the only Ford that would go. Couple buddies got stuck 1 night on the pipeline while we were playing around in the mud. They asked me if I could pull them out i told them ya'll said my truck couldn't pull anything. I said yea I will pull you out in a evil kind of way so I latched on to them and pulled that truck for about a half mile down that pipeline backwards. I was LMAO watching that guy trying to keep his truck from going all over the place and him hollering out the window at the sametime. Needless to say he wasn't to happy but I cured him of his bragging and him putting my truck down. I Went back for the other guy asked if he wanted me to pull him out he said Hell no. Cured 2 people in 1 night.
