I have a portable XM unit. I am swapping it out between 4 different cars on a regular basis. I just throw the antenna up on the dash right against the window and I never have had a problem in any of the vehicles.

I have left the antenna in the console in my Dodge as a trial once and it would start to fade some then.

The antenna is a magnetic puck, so we will try it on the roof next outing. We want to be able to switch it from truck to truck, so don't want to get too involved in routing the cable. I think I will just run it through the door at a gentle angle so it doesn't kink and we should be OK.

Thanks again.....Steve
I ran my antenna wire through the door seal and it leaked when I went through the car wash. I wanted to take mine from truck to truck, but I finally got sick of pullin the antenna off the roof every time it rained so I routed my wire permanantly through the back sliding window by going under the kick plate on the floor. It hasn't leaked since. I would recommend permanently mounting this one and buying another antenna.
