Mornin'.
It's MONDAY finally! I hate weekends. Nothing's open. Nothing good anyway.
Monday, September 16th.
1620 - The Mayflower departed from Plymouth, England. The ship arrived at Provincetown, MA, on November 21st and then at Plymouth, MA, on December 26th. There were 102 immigrants onboard.
1630 - The village of Shawmut changed its name to Boston.
1782 - The Great Seal of the United States was impressed on document to negotiate a prisoner of war agreement with the British. It was the first official use of the impression.
1893 - The "Cherokee Strip" in Oklahoma was swarmed by hundreds of thousands of settlers.
1908 - General Motors was founded by William Crapo "Billy" Durant. The company was formed by merging the Buick and Olds car companies. (The guy's name was 'Crapo' and he made GM cars... that should tell you something!)
1940 - U.S. President Roosevelt signed into law the Selective Training and Service Act, which set up the first peacetime military draft in U.S. history.
1974 - U.S. President Ford announced a conditional amnesty program for draft-evaders and deserters during the Vietnam War.
1976 - The Episcopal Church formally approved women to be ordained as priests and bishops.
1990 - An eight-minute videotape of an address by U.S. President George H.W. Bush was shown on Iraqi television. The message warned that action of Saddam Hussein could plunge them into a war "against the world."
1994 - Exxon Corporation was ordered by federal jury to pay $5 billion in punitive damages to the people harmed by the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill.
1998 - Universal paid $9 million for the rights to the Dr. Seuss classics "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Oh, the Places You'll Go."
Today's thought:
If you carry a gun, people may call you paranoid. But remember, if you have a gun, there is nothing to be paranoid about.
Coffee's on. At least the coffee maker still works!
TOB&F today please!

Site is still s l o w. Even got a popup that said 'A script on this page is not loading correctly. Do you want to continue to attempt the script download?' Then it gave the address, (I guess), of the script and it was that loadus excalator thing again. Yup, it's my Michigan connection awright.
Got a new motor for the lawn mower a couple of weeks ago. And blew it up yesterday. Going for motor # 4.
Clutch fan in big truck still not coming on even when engine temp gets to 214 degrees. Went to Cat and they put it on their computer. Diagnosis; "That's not right".
My man van still refuses to start when it's damp or raining outside. Pounded on dashboard in frustration; it started. Maybe that's the solution for everything. If it doesn't work, hit it!

Three motors trashed? Are they imports or the real deal? As to the Cat dealer, well duh! Even the guy who glues steel together knows it isn't right.
BOOOOO!!!!! Sorry but I couldn't resist it.....I'm an AGGIE and even though they blew it against the Tide I still have to root for my team!!!
Trying to get back into the DTR lineup so I'm not forgotten. Been super busy with work and school. It's all I can do to find time to sleep these days....I thought morning classes might be easier on my work schedule but now I'm doubting that theory!!!
Going to purchase a SWEET '95 3/4 ton tomorrow.....the price is just WAAAAAAAY too right not to. Everything is cherry but the driver door....needs replacing.....cheap and easy. The A/C needs a recharging as well.....again, super cheap and easy and for the asking price, I simply can't pass it up for no more than needs repairing.
Will try and chime back in tomorrow after all is said and done.
Later folks.

Need to do some PM on the bushhog. Broke 2 shear pins Saturday, that's unusual since I wasn't cutting anything heavy at the time.

The real deal. First one was a Kohler. (They can't tell the difference between their products... toilets and engines) The last two have been Briggs and Scrap Iron's.
Mabe MY luck is wearing off on YOU!
That would be wonderful... if I was using IE.
I'm not running a million, I'm running 2; antivirus and Firefox. Okaaaay, 3. Sometimes I run Outlook while I'm running Firefox and the antivirus too.
When you and Lary start in about your leggs, we ALL have nighthorses!
Evening all.
My luck continues. Went to get parts today. Stopped at the end of the driveway and... well, I TRIED to stop at the end of the driveway. Blew a brakeline. Messed around with it for an hour and a half, finally getting the loader out and lifting the whole back end off the ground because I couldn't get it high enough with the jack to get under it. Then I couldn't get AT the brakeline without dropping the gas tank. Gave up in frustration and drove it without brakes to a shop with a lift and someone who actually LIKES working on these pieces of junk. It's still there so I guess it wasn't as easy as a job as he lead me to believe.

Nope, I've got enough of my own gremlins, don't need any of yours. When I got the guard off I found the nuts had just come off the shear pin and the pin was ejected. I used a redneck impact when I put it back together. Had to swap the ends on the hydraulic lines as well. It would seem this last set of blades isn't wearing nearly as well as the previous ones. I had wore the first cutting edge past the edge of the main blade by 1/4"+. Time to spin it in the other direction.

I have a China knock-off of the 13HP Honda, and as much as I hate to admit it, it's been a great little motor. And all the parts are interchangeable if I can't find a source of parts from Lifan LTD, the manufacturer. There's a dealer in Kentucky I've got stuff from in the past and he told me the biggest drawback to these motors is the lack of attention to detail. When he sells a complete engine, he takes it apart first to check all the internal nut/bolt torques. I guess they have a nasty habit of forgetting to tighten things. Other than that, he's seen no major problems with them in his 5 years of selling them.
I put a used Kawasaki 2 cylinder water cooled engine on the sawmill. That thing is, so far, a GREAT little engine. Parts are pricey tho. (Now that I've said that, it too will now take a puke!
Just back up all the time, that'll spin it in the opposite direction, right?
I didn't want the job when I thought it was just a simple brake line. Stoopid metric crap. I have exactly 8 metric wrenches and that's it. At the rate I'm going, I won't have the wood boiler in OR the processor done this season.

I used to be OK with Briggs but not so much anymore. Kohler has a grey market, you have to be careful not to get into those. I hate to say it but the Honda is about as bullet proof as a small engine gets.

Howdy all.. Long day.
In addition to my 15hp Chinese made Honda motor on the temp replacement gen I also have a small 2000w gen with the Chinese made Yamaha.
Like you, I hate to say that they work pretty well.
Time will tell. Probably not as good as the Japan made ones but at way less than half the cost they work pretty good.
By "Depends on how you look at it" I meant if you miss a week of our outstanding observations, are you really missing anything?
FiverBob: You will like this. We were supposed to be on the road Tuesday morning but spent all of today chasing a propane leak.
Turns out it was because of a Low tank. Apparently when the pressure gets really low (tank pretty empty) the stove regulator will begin venting a real small amount of gas.
Just enough to smell but not enough to bubble (I don't use matches--anymore).
I wasted hours figuring that out.

Morning all.
It's Tuesday, September 17th.
1778 - The United States signed its first treaty with a Native American tribe, the Delaware Nation.
1787 - The Constitution of the United States of America was signed by delegates at the Constitutional Convention.
1796 - U.S. President George Washington's Farewell Address was read before the U.S. Congress.
1862 - The Battle of Antietam took place during the American Civil War. More than 23,000 men were killed, wounded, or missing. The Rebel advance was ended with heavy losses to both armies.
1872 - Phillip W. Pratt patented a version of the sprinkler system.
1911 - The first transcontinental airplane flight started. It took C.P. Rogers 82 hours to fly from New York City to Pasadena, CA.
1930 - Construction on Boulder Dam, later renamed Hoover Dam, began in Black Canyon, near Las Vegas, NV.
1937 - At Mount Rushmore, Abraham Lincoln's face was dedicated.
1939 - The Soviet Union invaded Poland. Germany had invaded Poland on September 1.
1944 - Operation "Market Garden" was launched by Allied paratroopers during World War II. The landing point was behind German lines in the Netherlands.
1947 - The first U.S. Secretary of Defense, James V. Forrestal, was sworn in to office.
1962 - U.S. space officials announced the selection of Neil A. Armstrong and eight others as new astronauts.
1972 - "M*A*S*H" premiered on CBS-TV.
1976 - NASA unveiled the space shuttle Enterprise in Palmdale, CA.
1983 - Vanessa Williams, as Miss New York, became the first black woman to be crowned Miss America.
1984 - Gordon P. Getty was named the richest person in the U.S. His fortune was $4.1 billion.
1992 - Lawrence Walsh called a halt to his probe of the Iran-Contra scandal. The investigation had lasted 5 1/2 years. (Didn't he have a band at one time?)
Today's thought:
It's only a matter of time until 'Security Cameras of Walmart' is the next hit reality show.
Does anyone know what would cause fluctuating oil pressure in an engine running at a constant RPM and relatively steady load? Pressure will vary from 37.5 to 42 psi with no apparent reason. I'm thinking sticky relief valve or partially defective sending unit for the gauge.
Coffee & ph00 are ready. Stale Cherio's and warm & chunky sour milk are on the counter. YUM!
Please remember to TOB&F today. Let's keep his granddaughter's forward progress going!
