Desert Storm Anniversary.

Where're all the Desert Storm Vets? 19 years ago this week (2-23/2-25) we became combat vets. Would've posted earlier, but haven't been at the computer.

Thanks guys, it's always easy for me to remember because we rolled across the line right before my mother's birthday.

Anybody else here?

Thanks to all of the Vets that served in combat. The only combat I saw was combatting the cold to keep from getting frostbite down in Antartica.

Thank you vets!

I was a ski patroller in Big Bear and at the start of the Operation the Marine jets and copters flew by early one morning when I was at the top of the Hill and I could see right across from them at eye level. Boy, was I pumped. Me and a couple patrol buddies decided right there we should join up and become medics. The war was over before it started and we settled down and got back to business at the mountain.

I've always wondered how different my life would be if I had joined up during that event, seeing how strong of a Brotherhood it is to be a United States Military Soldier!

You Guys and Gals kick butt and make me proud to be an American! Rock On!

So was I. I remember they suspended classes, and we walked about 6 blocks and had a a roadside send off to the local National Guard 256th.

Had family in Desert Storm too.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who served.

I was not far away then... I was a c-141b FCC. Went to Dharan alot... stayed in the Khobar Towers. I still have the shirts. (not a joke) In fact I was there just a month before it was bombed and I lost a friend there.

I was in and out of places like Dharan, Al's Garage (Al-kharge), PSAB, Riyadh, Bahrain, Egypt and etc...

Funny thing though; I don't remember "these" dates so much. I recall very vividly August 1, 1990. That is when Desert Shield started and being part of airlift, boy were we busy for about one year straight. Five months before the war started and six months after.

I especially liked refueling in Saudi. They'd pull up in the huge tankers that are common there (and no so much here... about 80k lbs of fuel in each) and the AC would say fill er up! It was all free so we would take as much as we could take off with.

I was in a support role in Washington DC assigned to the Military Sealift Command. Signed up reserve for the GI Bill and then recalled for the war. Stayed active long enough to get Vet status.... and then went back to college.

No Kidding!!!! You guys probably air lifted some of our COM equipment. I had flightline duty at Robins Air Force base several times loading C5's with our stuff. I never did have to help load a C141. It was fun driving two 5 ton trucks side by side through the middle of that beast. The loadmaster was always bitting his/her nails when that happened. Since I was a Com guy I got to see all kinds of neat stuff. I actually got to go in the main control center for the Patriot batterys. We could hear the alarm at our compound before the main base alarm would go off. That meant "RUN for the bunker!!!!" I didn't stay where the bomb dropped. That was a sad day. My condolences to your friend. Friendship in the military runs deep. I'll never forget my pals. There was one SCUD that fell about 300 yards from our compound that the news didn't say anything about. We were picking debri out of our camo. Fell in the sandbox so to speak. Caught a ride to Somalia in a C5 also. I was at the embassy there. That's where I tore ACL in my left knee at.
