Deisel $11 a gallon in UK

hhmmm, got this e-mail this morning

Hi John,

Money sent thru PayPal. Jacket has not arrived yet.

Petrol in the Scotland is now rationed and in England people are starting to panic buy, due to a strike buy the rig workers that pumps the oil from the North Sea. Diesel over $11 a gallon.

Best wishes

Pete

This is absolutely ridiculous. How is anybody supposed to make a living with costs like this?

i remember reading something, a couple of years back, that said in the future only the wealthy will be able to afford to travel. my in laws just pulled their TT from their winter location back to their home (about 900 miles), and the fuel bill was around $600. as for flying, many airlines are filing for bankruptcy, and the ones that are still around are saying they will have to raise prices substantially, to remain in business, and the prices will have to continue to increase, as the price of fuel increases.

Same thing with the cruise lines, $5.00 per day, per person fuel charge. Why don't they just raise the price of the trip $100?

the majority of vehicles in england are diesel.

Last summer, diesel was .95/liter, gas was .99/liter.

Prices in the UK have the same number as here. a bottle of coke will be about 1 quid, McDonalds combo meal will be 6 quid, an engineer's salary is about 80K/year.
