Anyone else as excited as me about getting away for a week?

Yes there is. I am going to Vernal, Utah for T-day elk hunting on Indian land. I've been preparing for 3 months. This will be the first big tow fro my truck since I've bought it. Can't wait to out pull the Toyota and the Ford that I'll be traveling with.

 

I am going out this weekend. The season started on Tuesday but I didn't have the time to go. Heading up to Mid MI. Looks like it will be good hunting weather!

 

The rut is in full swing here in the mid-atlantic. tomorrow night i head for west virginia to our property with the truck and 4 wheeler and wont be back til next friday. season opens monday but i got alot of work to do, and some bowhunting to do saturday. the weather jsut turned cold today and is supposed tos tay that way thru next week!! Good luck and shoot straight guys.

 

We can always tell when they are in rut, about 20 of them dead on the side of the road in the last 10 days. (No-joke, not 2 or 3, like dozens).
Seems they get a little silly when they get a whiff?

 

Season opened last weekend here, started slow with the warm temps and wind. Has cooled off and the ruts kicked in, should be a much better weekend. Carefull, Missouri has lost two hunters this year to people who shoot at anything.

Only 2 hunters? The farm we hunt, a freind of mines, is a mile from where that guy killed those 6 hunters last year. Talk about scared! Helicopters, FBI walking the woods! And to think if he had walk the other direction, he would have walked right to us.

 

It's the end of the second week here, and the rut is just startin. No luck yet, but jumped 2 and couldn't see horns the one ended up being a 150 pound 6 point. The kid down the road shot it. Gotta spend more time hunting, good luck to you all.

 

season starts in 3 weeks here in Iowa. cant wait! {but its gonna be hard to top last years kill!!}
