Wow, this place is DEAD. Sad to see. I remember starting the site back in 2001. It lasted 20 plus years I suppose, but didn't grow anymore after about 2011. I guess it was bound to happen.

 

I'm still here. Nothing better to do. I guess people are more worried about getting by these days than socializing. Pity. As they use to say, there is strength in numbers. That is why divide and conquer is so powerful. No one to remind you you're not alone, no one to ask for help. Even if you need to complain about something, having a sympathetic ear to talk to eases the pain.

 

I still check the new posts every day. I don't post very often but have gleaned a lot of helpful information from the forums over my time as a member.
Glad to have the info available and hope the site continues to exist.

 

Hey Jack, nice to see you pop in. I agree, this place is dead, especially when you compare it to a few years ago. I seldom post any more, but do slide by occasionally just to see what is happening and to see if I can help anyone with my limited knowledge.

Sad for us that don't do FB or other that our information stream is dwindling.
At least the truck forums are somewhat busy.

I tried face lift book, but all I got were personal attacks and people wanting to con me. That ended quickly.

 

I have loved this site since discovering it back when I bought my truck, it has helped me keep it running and up to date. Approaching 200K now and it has never run better,,,,still have a stack of parts awaiting install in the shop. I miss the back and forth with the guys and only comment occassionally if the inquiry hasn't gotten a solid answer...I hate facebook.

Like a lot of people, I have had basically all of my questions answered "just by using the search button", so becoming a member and starting new conversations was never required. Im sure the same is true for a lot of people when the answers have been on this forum since the 2000's; what's the point of becoming an active member?

As a side note, now that I have a question and am trying to contribute, it drives me crazy that my new thread still hasn't been approved weeks later. If only veteran members can post threads and expect reasonably quick responses, it kills the experience for anyone new hoping to get help.

 

This site is not for just Dodge Cummins related subjects, it is also a place for people with something in common to get to know each other and socialize. For some people like me, at times you're the only friends I have. Long hard winters, trying to play catch up in the summer, no living relatives, being retired on a low fixed income, no time to socialize outside of work when I am working, it can get rather lonely. I've contributed much, mostly in the 1st gen world, but also some in the 2nd gen. Both are now vehicles of the past and those threads are fading away. But I still come here.

I still stop by here almost everyday....Just like I drive 1st or 2nd Gen Dodge trucks almost everyday, and plan to continue to do so.

I have become friends with, and even met in person, quite a few of the 1st gen crowd on here over the years.

 

I've told a number of people about this site over the years, don't know if any of them joined. Seems like there me be only two of us Alaska's left. Got to talking to an old man, Ya older than me in the grocery store parking lot. He has a 93, bone stock with only 120K on it. Has a few dents and dings, but otherwise in very good shape. Of course, I asked if he would sell it. Noooo, was his reply.

 

My deal is a lot of 1 time posters don't ever respond or reply to my help or advice so I just pass over them and many newbies pull up a thrread from 2007 and resurrect it only to find the age of the thread make it kinda moot......

 

Not always, sometime digging up an old thread can give someone, even us old farts a new prospective on an old problem considering the new technology and stuff that wasn't available before. And some of us know how vague the search function can be. Besides, my brain can use some exercise once in a while.

Popped in today to see if there are any reviews on Magnacharge batteries.
The factory dodge batteries lasted 12 years, the replacements around 7
Trying to find "maintenance free" batteries you can maintain by adding water when necessary is next to impossible....

 

I feel you guys. I had a Ram for a bit then sold it, and kind of disappeared from here. Now I have a motorhome based on the 5500 chassis so I have another Cummins
