Croc hunter dead.
That's what the news said; the story's been around before; first time I heard of him being killed was in 2001.
Unfortunately, this appears fully legitimate; lots of GoogleNews stories.
Very sad; leaving behind a couple young children and wife for our entertainment...

The naturalist and television star Steve Irwin has died in a diving accident in far north Queensland. He was 44.
Police say he was stung through the heart by a stingray while diving off Port Douglas.
He was filming a documentary when the accident occurred around midday AEST near the Low Isles.
A helicopter arrived with paramedics on board to try to resuscitate him, but it was too late.
Irwin's body is being taken to the morgue in Cairns.
His family are believed to be flying from Brisbane to Cairns this afternoon.

Not good. I hate to see something like that. I really liked his stuff. You have to admit, the guy was nuts for doing what he did but we still enjoyed watching him. I remember the spitting cobra that kept hitting him in the eyes. He couldn't find water to wash them out and it was hurting him like crazy.
All those wild near misses with crocs, cobras, and all the other things he showed me on tv.....very entertaining and fun to watch. We'll miss the "Croc hunter" around our house.

Sad news, but hardly surprising.
He was probably holding the stingray for the camera and saying "Crikey, look at the size of that thing! What a beauty!"
You can't mess around with deadly animals forever, something's bound to get you sooner or later. It sure was a lot of fun to watch, though.

Crickey! A very sad day indeed. The guy had passion for what he did. He could make a story out of anything to do with animals. More than the Croc Hunter, Steve Erwin was an Australian ambassador to the world. He will be greatly missed.
He was a very entertaining show host, and will be missed.
My daughter got to spend a semester studying in Tasmania a few years back.
When she asked what the Aussies thought of the "Crock Hunter", they pretty much all responded the same.
"He's a ******".
Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) was thought of the same way.
