Hey f@t,

Thanks for askin'. He's doing okay, got him vacc'ed for WNV along with a full series, EEE, WEE, Strangles, DPT, etc.

He's been throwin' a fever the last three days but it's coming down. Other than that, vet says he looks great, just needs to be floated.

Gonna be out of town next weekend, but the following week we start our new ground work regimen. Gonna try some of Pat Parelli's tricks...

Thanks again for your help....

Might look into Monty Roberts as well... I have found that a combo of both has worked tremendously in my training... Have been using the combo for coming up on 4 years... Good Luck! Ground work is always fun!

Re:Cowhand,Bobcat...

hey thats great to hear.if he has spiked a fever that hits 102 you might want to give him 10ccs of Banamine. It could simply be from the vaccs, which happens. Also,if his teeth need to be floated and rolled he might have somthing stuck in the teeth or a cut...but I dont think so.
Pat P...Montey R....yep both of them use very old methods that I've learned or discovered when I was very young that involve jesture and positioning, which is critical in communicating with horses.thats how they do it so why not us?And it is what has always worked for me.Only when I started LOL there wasnt the luxury of those guys on tape or book.We had to figure it out for ourselves.I have only seen bits and parts of Pat's methods, because I have made it a point to never watch another trainer...dont know why...just dont..BUT,I did see enough to know just what he was doing( Ive been riding all of my ponies since I started with a string around the neck so I really liked to see that)and saw enough to know he was worthwhile to recommend.he uses many of the same tecniques I have only a bit different..and theyve always worked for me! As for Monty,Ive never seen him except for about 15 seconds...that was enough to tell me exactly what he was doin as well...jestures and positions.Which,ALL of the successful horsmen since the beginning of time have used .. it was second nature...Or " A way with horses"Done it all of my life,so I can tell you that that is also critical and extremely benificial for the relationship of horse and man....so you bet..check em out.I give my vote too! good luck!!!!!
btw, here is my soul mate Amore.I liberty trained her and by the time she was two,she did about 23 different behaviours at liberty which is great for a 2yrold because I am dead against using any kind of treat for anykind of training.I rode her with nothing..she was wonnnderful
