The recent Car and Driver edition had an article written by a guy that used to be an used car salesman. Very interesting reading indeed. People who have never bought a car should read it (and most people who have bought one for that matter).

This is a good read.
It gives me a few ideas on getting the salesman out of their element.

Ah this makes me want to go buy another new truck

I'll repeat what Michael, my ASM, told me about Caucasians . He said white people never come into the dealership. "They're all on the Internet trying to find out what our invoice price is. We never even get a shot at them. I hate it. I mean, would they go (to a mall) and say, 'What's your invoice price on that beautiful suit?' No. So why are they doing it here?"
HAHAHA

When I was into reading C&D magazine about 4yrs ago that same article was dispalyed, it has showed up just about every year since. Good reading, but the salesman are also trained weekly on tactics to remove money from your pocket with the least amount of resistance.

Wow, that took a while to read, but it was worth it. Very interesting.

I do have one question for y'all. What exactly does it mean to buy a vehicle at invoice? This was mentioned several times in the article.

It would be in theory what the dealership paid for the truck from the manufacturer but they nearly always pay a lot less,so it is a good point to bargain from (not MSRP).
