Not trying to over rule you or anything, but don't ever use system restore. It is very unreliable and you may lose important files.

Make sure you have all windows updates and then try again. If it still doesn't work get firefox as it is better anyway.

I wouldn't say firebox is better, but is a good alternative. I do agree that system restore is trash and should be avoided, much like a Ford 6.0 Liter.

Windows update should include IE 7 as an option, try it and see if that solves your problem, if not the other windows updates might. Another possibilty is spyware/malware or a virus.

run every sort of anit virus and disk de frag utility you have. after you do all of that and it does not work use the system restore option that just installs the OS over again. If that does not work run a "full restore" (the option that says "not recommended" because you will lose files) and that will put your computer back to its original condition. If THAT does not work, buy a new HD and you will have to reinstall anything. If that does not even work, your computer is hosed and you need a new one.

If you are running IE 7 go into tools-options-advanced and reset browser. Typical cause is some sort of 3rd party plugin/add on that causes it. Also in the internet options delete all temporary files. Restart and try again.

If that doesnt fix it, you have spyware or virus troubles, and resolving those isnt a walk through online scenario unless you just want to erase it all and start over.
