Computer anti virus software ?

Evenin, DTR.
My subscription to Norton is coming up soon, and a while back, someone told me I was an idiot for buying Norton for my windows vista...

Any suggestions? That norton is 60 a year! :0 I feel obama'd!

TIA.

Looks like I'll check that out. I had it a long time ago, then got free software from work, but they don't offer if for vista.

I'm using eset systems nod 32. It was recommended to me by our comp nerds here on the rig, and is now required for us to have it to be added to the wireless router so we can have internet. I love it. My comp sped up 100% after installation. It's like $30 a year I think, but worth it.
I'm using a gateway nv52 laptop 64bit with windows 7.
Stay away from kaspersky labs, it sucks.

I will second the eset nod 32 or their smart security suite. My computer also runs faster. Am in the process of buying 50+ licenses for work to replace the symantic.

Spybot is not an antiviruse but an anti spyware program but yes you should run that as well as AVG. I also run AdAware for spyware protection.
Get AVG Free HERE.
Spybot HERE.
AdAware HERE.
I also run ZoneAlarm for my firewall. It takes a little more user interaction but I prefer it over the windows fire wall. It's free as well and can be found HERE.
You have to watch the download and install on all of these cause they'll try to prompt you to install the trial version which will expire unless you buy it. Some will also try to set a toolbar in your browser. I hate those little toolbars so I always choose the custom setup choice anytime I do an install. This way I can uncheck anything that I know I don't want on my machine.

I just picked up Norton 360 and got it over with. It's spyware, virus and firewall in one. Staples had a deal going on for $30 off so we only paid $39.99 for it. I'll run it through it's year subscription and then maybe switch to AVG and just keep running spybot for the spyware.

AVG is the best freeware program you can get.

We had another topic about this just a few days ago (use the force --> search function )

I agree! Get AVG and a good spware and adware progams. I've used norton before and hated it. Too many problems that come with it in my opinion.
