Coming Soon to a Forest Near You?

Even if you're not from the area, it may be adviseable to voice your concern to the Forest Service.

Some people are worried that their right to hunt and snowmobile, in the Huron and Manistee National Forests, is at risk.

A recent court ruling requires the National Forest Service to look into the possibility of banning firearms hunting and snowmobiling in parts of the forests.

The forest service held a meeting in Manistee to get public input. This was one of eight meetings being held on the issue across the state.

Forest service officials say the deadline to submit comments on the issue is February 11th. They say the Regional Forester, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will make the final decision. That is expected to happen sometime in the Spring of 2012.

You can ride "A" snowmobile in Yellowstone but i don't think you can ride "YOUR" snowmobile there.

must be some kinda deal about speed or polution, maybe the ones they have you ride are 4 stroke or somthing.

Theres a webcam on the yellowstone parkinglot and every day there are 10-40 sleds parked on it, but there all the exact same thing.

But this is NATIONAL forrest. This would kill our state. Especially with all the industry taking off. We've had a history of highest ratio of hunting licenses sales. Snowmobiling also keeps most northern towns floating.
