I am seriously considering ordering a new 2003 HO / 48RE truck. I do not want to end up with the EGR system if I don't have to. Last time I read that the EGR wasn't coming until sometime in the 2004 model year, is that still the case? As long as I order a 2003 unit I am safe?<br><br>Thanks,<br>Tim B

 

EGR comes with the MY04.5, due out Dec. '03/Jan./04. Get your '03 as it will be the last of the really good ones. Mine shipped Saltillo Jan. 16, expected in my hands about Feb. 1. I think the MY04.5 will have higher HP and torque though, to stay in the HP race (although dyno pulls I've read about still has Cummins as king of the hill ).

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation and it's designed to reburn some of the exhaust gases that would normally just go out the exhaust system in an effort to make the exhaust cleaner. It is strictly for emissions and generally causes more crap getting into your engine, lower horsepower, and requires more frequent oil changes.<br><br>However, you may be able to buy one in the Peoples Republic of California!
