Went to school full time then went back for a full time program in the evenings. Had 2-3 jobs at a time since I was 15 and am proud of it. Went down to one job when the seasonal job stopped and I went nuts. Been searching for a second one ever since. This will all change when I have kids, but for now if I have more than 2-3 hours of downtime before bed every evening, I need to be working instead. Thats just me...

My work ethic was shown to me from my last boss.

"You have the work ethic of people who were born in the 40's and 50's. Heck even my generation doesn't compare to you." He was 40ish and I am 19.

My current boss has tried to smudge numbers to make him and me look good. I confronted him and told him that I am here to do my best, work to my fullest, and have a lot of integrity. He hasn't tried it since. Yes, when I come home I do not like to do anything but work on some engine and with it being cold I have a hard time getting motivated to do it. But I just applied for a part-time job at Autozone and we will see what becomes of that.

I've run into a few idiots like that 04CTD, quit one job, funny thing, they advertised for 2 people to replace me. I still have the Employment ads from the paper my Uncle sent me.

The current set of idiots are close to setting me off again, only this time I have 20 years in and they are gonna loose a whole lot more.

You know, I can see perhaps that type of Management on an assembly line, where not much inititative is required, but for some reason, schools forgot to teach these people you get more flys with honey.

Did you get fired, or laid off? I see this being said (mostly in the states) when a company downsizes, they fire people. Is there no lay offs in the US? I've never been fired, but I was laid off 6 times last year, 3 times the year before that.

Well, you know me. I work 50+ hours a week and currently go to school full time. I haven't yet graduated but, I have a rough schedule as it is. I enjoy working to be honest. Keeps me busy, and keeps me out of trouble. Plus you make money, whats not to like.

My work ethic is this:

Do the right thing, even when no one's looking or "no one will ever know"

Do the EVERY job to the utmost of your ability. There are no unimportant responsibilities. Everything you touch is your autograph. What do people think of your work?

Work until the job is done right or you die, whichever comes first.

As for current employment status, I'm transitioning out of the military after almost 13 years. I don't yet have a new job. I couldn't really line up a new job while still in the military because I was stationed in Hawaii and wanted to work back in the Midwest or CO.

I'm holding out for a job a really want-- a career, not just another job. I could do almost anything if I put my mind to it. But I don't see myself working at an auto parts store or Home Depot or something for the next 25+ years.

I have a few exciting leads, and I'm praying that whatever God has for me comes to fruition soon, because I'd love to get settled.

I did 4 years in the Navy before I went to college, If a person doesn't have any work ethic before going into the millitary, he will when his enlistment is up. I have yet to find any job that requires anywhere near the dedication and work ethic that my job in the navy required. By that I mean all the jobs I have had have been a breeze compared to the military.
I'm sure most, if not all the veterans on this board will agree.

Agree...8 years Navy.

I don't know how long you've been out Hohn, but the USPS will open up the register and let you take the test if within so many days of coming off active duty. I would definately be looking at a gov't job because all your military time will roll in.

I work for the Gov't abd i agree that a Gov't job is not a bad way to go. I will retire when I am 50 yrs. old. ( full benefits) You won't get rich but I doubt you will ever be laid off either.
BTW, only 6 yrs is transferrable. You can not use it to retire early, but you can put it twoards retirement. I still have to put in 20 years but after those 20 years, I will retire with 24 years Gov't service..
