Cheaper to buy a truck with a Cummings...

than a Cummins..... For some reason, classified ads always have Dodge 2500/3500s cheaper when they come with a Cummings engine than when they come with a Cummins engine..... Can anyone figure this out? Ignorant individuals maybe? I know next truck I buy is going to have a Cummings.... at least thats what im gonna act when I buy it......

If you don't want to get to stay on this site you might want to drop the g on the end. It's Cummins, not the activity. Planning on transplanting one?

Pretty sure that's what he was referring to. Those who misspell it generally don't know what they have so they sell it cheaper than those in the know. I have seen that around here too. Have to say I would be more likely to buy one of the misspelled ones too.

there are great deals out there... there are also trucks that have been turned up with no gauges and been running WalMart oil filters for who knows how many miles... don't get me wrong, prices are high as heck on DTR and TDR, but often, the trucks have been very well maintained and not abused/neglected

That's true, most places you dont see sooo much maintance on trucks then on those who are on the forums, all crazy bout theyre trucks.

But then we have bought many bone stock trucks. powerless.... some a lot more then others. they need timing, (specially at this elevation), filters, overflow valve and stuff. till they wake up.

often i think owners must have sold theyre truck, just cuz it lacks power,
probably didnt know how easy it is on these ol 12valvers!

How true that is. Let a guy who has a '91 drive mine. He tried to buy it right then and there. I know that the '91 isn't anywhere near mine even stock for power, but I had to inform him that there were things he could do. Plus, there was NO way he was getting mine.

No biggie. What's really funny is there is a book here (like Truck trader except for local) and it has a dealer that advertises cummins trucks in the book, but if you go to their website they have Cummings. If I ever buy anything from them I will buy from the website, should get a BIG discount.

Yes indeed.
The CumminGs do not have the quality built into them.
However, I did hear that the CumminGs option came with an Allison transmission.
