Cheap airline tickets ???

Hey folks,
I am looking for the cheapest way to buy a plane ticket to bring my wife over to Germany in the next month or so for a couple weeks ... who usually carries the best deals on tickets ?

I saw some decent prices on Hotwire .... Expedia didn't show any flights over here. Are there others ?

What about an actual travel agency ?? Are they more expensive ??

I do have an option of using military Space-A (Patriot Express) which is the cheapest by a looooong shot, but her schedule (kids, school etc ..) won't work with that too well and I really need her set on a good plan.

Any ideas ??

I've gone through Travelocity a few times and they usually had decent prices on airfare.......might check them out.

And the only way I've found a travel agent to be cheaper is if you plan WAY ahead and let them handle it. If it's last minute they are usually...not always more expensive!!

That'd be cool having your wife come visit, I personally don't see how you can stand not being around her.

Pistol if you bring that crew over you will need a whole plane and not just a ticket. Have you looked into a C5.

Believe me ... taking these unaccompanied orders over here was by far THE worst mistake I think I have ever made. (Hopefully the last big mistake I will make ).

I will check Travelocity out too ... thank you !!

Hehehehe .... gonna have to leave the rest of the tribe behind for this trip !!

I'd have to take a second mortgage out for them !! Someday I will get them over ... just may have to do it in shifts !!

For the majority of my trips I have found that Travelocity is the cheapest. Cheaptrips/Cheapsomething is always the most expensive. The exception has been to contact the airline directy and only once for me has this been cheaper than Travelocity. Also, Friday thru Monday tend to be the most expensive times to fly, but not always, so watch for this. Also, take a look at close alternative airports as these can sometimes drop the price.

Well ... so far it looks like Hotwire has the best deals. Travelocity had a ridiculously low price ... so I checked into it further and it didn't include the taxes and associated fees which added about $170 bucks more than the full price Hotwire quote.
I will massage the dates like you suggested and see if that helps. I appreciate the advice Stan!!

She still has to work the passport issue on her end which could take a while (are there any DTR members working in the passport office ?? ).

Yeah ... that's the one I was talking about. Right now she really doesn't have the time to wait for a seat to come available (unfortunately !!). We will probably be all over the MAC flights when the kids are grown. One of the better bennies of military service, eh ?

How close is she to Ramstein? Being a flyer in the Air Force I have a good hold on this stuff. They have the C-17's going back and forth everyday. There are a lot of Air Force planes going back and forth everyweek. I know we have one going into Europe every week. If you want some more info PM me. Don't really want to go into details here.
