careers/schooling
hey guys what seems to be in more demand in your state commercial/ industrial HVAC, electric power, or diesel mechanic. A 6 year old had a loaded 45 at the school my kids will attend in the future and basically I want to learn a something new that will get me out of the state of CA.
alright better question what careers are or did do well before the economy took a dump in your area. Basically don't know where we're going, but when I can sell our house we're getting out of CA.
There's a google processing plant up here, and I see they often advertise for HVAC people (HUGE cooling units on top of the buildings).
I've seen a few diesel mechanic jobs posted, for like the garbage company or whatever. I don't remember what they said the salary was, but remember being suprised it wasn't more...
There are also windmill tech jobs in the area, if you had mechanical/hydraulic/electrical skills.

Don't laugh but Nursing is big. Average RN salary is $57,000.00 grand. Have a fiend in the Dallas area making over $100,000.00 thousand. It is a specialty job. By the way.....when I was in the rehab hospital the, majority of the nurses and therapist were male.
Yeah, nursing would be a good gig, if you have the temperament and aptitude for that kind of thing. I understand the coursework to get there is pretty challenging, but it seems like there are good paying job openings everywhere.
The local community college is starting a program for renewable energy. I was talking to a woman my GF works with, and her husband is working servicing windmills. It sounded like he didn’t have any schooling specific to wind generation, and got trained on the job. Of course, you’d work in all sorts of weather, 300+ feet off the ground, and would also have to be OK with really confined spaces (like inside the hub).
Getting one of the jobs doing the routine service sounds like the way to do it, if you don’t want to be living out of a motel room for months at a time, all around the country.
