Care for yer truck's paint
#4
Umm I didn't realize how faded my paint was until I put the new topper with the the correct shade of paint on!!! Had to open the door and check the door jambs to make sure the topper was the right color!! Hmmmm wonder if wet sanding will help, I think I'll start a thread about this...........

I need to wash mine BAD. It looks OK from 20 feet away (silver) but up close it is dirty, and I have some specks of metal from some steel I hauled that must have stuck to the paint, and now rusted! I'm going to have to buff the paint now, plus I have some basic scratches already I'd like to remove

The clay bar trick sure does put the whole wax thing in a different light.
You'd really be surprised how much junk is in your paint surface and
how smooth the finish really is afterward.

I'm guilty avbout letting the paint go. I swear for awhile back every other day I got a new ding!! So now I'm one of those "jerks" that parks in 2 spaces or just crooked enough so no ne can park next to me, however I do this towards the back of the parking lot. I still kinda keep up on it wax it when the rain quits beading up, but the body needs a good going over to relieve the dings! However before the slip in paint care, I did a 3 step Meguiars. I heard of, but never did the clay bar trick.

The Meguires Detail spray and clay bar trick is a little time consuming but actually pulls embedded junk out like hard water deposits, pollen, old wax and dust. I flatten the bar about as big as my hand, spray a libral amount of detail spray on about 2 sq.ft. then kinda float the clay bar over the wet surface back and forth & circles. After giving the area 3 or 4 going overs until the bar just starts to drag then spray a coupla more sq. feet and repeat the float swipes. Between sprays, turn the bar over and you can see the junk taken off your paint. After "dirtying" both sides of the clay, fold and remold the clay so fresh clay can go to work. After doing the hood, wipe it off with a towel and detail spray to clean then feel how smooth the paint has become. After you finish, put a coat of your favorite wax on and after you get through, go cruisin the Burger Doodle.
