I agree with annabelle. Sony makes a great camcorder. They have the type that burn to DVD and they also have the hard drive models.

We have a Hitachi that burns to the mini DVDs. I think it is a DX-35 maybe? Pretty good camera, the only complaint that I have is that it doesn't have a light on the front, but it does pretty good without it. I picked ours up for $200 slightly used, but I think a new one is about $350. They had them at Wal-mart.

Get the one that burns to a hard drive not DVD. I bought a DVD camcorder, it works great and all but you are limited to formats and have to buy an aftermarket program if you ever want to edit or up load to a pc.
With a hard drive type model there are no limits.

i know the hard drive ones are better for editing and whatnot but i want the mini dvd one for the simplicity of it. it's much easier to send the wife a dvd from over there, put it in the dvd player and push play, then to try and send her a file nd try to explain to her how to get it to play. neither one of us is very good with computers. but thanks for all the suggestions, and keep em coming if ya got em. THANKS!!
