Buried a good friend yesterday
Yesterday was a very sad day. We buried a very good friend of 26 years (he was 83). He was 39 years older than me, but you would never know it. He lived life to the fullest, loving his family, fishing, quading, camping, traveling and the Lord. He did not have a mean bone in his body and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. More than once he rolled his quad with me and after getting up would say: "man, those rocks are sure hard!!! DON'T tell Vera!!" (his wife) There were many trips up north camping, fishing and just enjoying nature. He loved all his kids equally, regardless of the life decisions that they made and worried about them continuously. He died doing what he loved, working on his house and fixing things (massive heart attack). This is the second fishing buddy I've lost in as many years. On his coffin, we put his favorite fishing hook so he can continue fishing until we see him again.
God speed and we miss you Colin.

Thanks for sharing your experiences of your buddy, Colin.
I find it amazing that kids of "today" do not fully appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience our "elders" have inside of them, just waiting to be let out and absorbed by those lucky enough to be exposed.
I guess when I was in my late teens, early 20's I didn't care either. I learned to admire those of age as my life progressed, and those I encountered held a special meaning in my life, as they helped me become the person I am today. At first I was unwilling to open my mind to them (the early 20's thing), but eventually, I succumbed to their wealth of insight.
When I get the opportunity, I discuss just about any topic with those in my circle of influence and beyond. Amazing what you can develop a simple conversation into, and reap the benefits out of.
You've been blessed with the experience of knowing Colin, and his being ultimately will influence you until your time has come to pass as well. Hopefully, you can encourage, or enhance the lives, though your experiences with him, of others.....
Thanks again for sharing...
