Blu Flu

HELLO EVERYONE. IF YOU ARE NOT FROM NEW JERSEY THAN U DO NOT KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. TODAY ME AND MY FELLOW NEW JERSEY STATE CORRECTIONS OFFICERS CALLED OUT CAUSING A BLU FLU. OVER A 11,000 CALL OUTS IN 2 DAYS TO PROTEST THAT NEW JERSEY IS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY OR MAKE US PAY FOR OUR OWN HEALTH BENEFITS. WHEN EVERYDAY OUR LIFE IS THREATENED AND WE ARE LUCKY TO GO HOME AT NIGHT. MANY OFFICERS ARE ASSAULTED,FECES ARE THROWN ON THEM AND MANY OTHER DISTURBING PRACTICES HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS SO ITS IMPORTANT TO HAVE EXCELLENT MEDICAL PAID FOR US. WELL ANYWAY I CALLED OUT SAYING THAT MY 96 CUMMINS WOULD NOT START TO GET ME THERE. WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST PART I CAN BUY THAT WOULD SHOW THAT MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START? I HAVE TO PRODUCE DOCUMENTATION THAT MY TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING. THANKS

I think if you do not like your job, you should stand up and deal with it head on, not by making phony excuses.

By the way, how do you know that one of your superiors hasn't read this thread? we are currently taking over 20 million hits a month here.

Not making any moral judgments on you here, but sometimes I think people post stuff in a public forum without considering the consequences.

wrong the blu flu was standing up to our superiors genius. in order to get paid for the day documentation has to be submitted why the vehicle would not get me to work. we were standing up to the govenerner office not our immediate bosses at work due to the fact that this affects them also

Top beat me to it. If you don't like your job get another one. Don't be part of a group that lies and cheats their way along. Its bad for your spirit.

I understand the income thing, and I know it would be tought. But get a skill and find another job. Baby sitting human trash is not a career. Leave that to people who have no choice. You do. MOVE to where the jobs are! We have 4% unemployement here in NE.

What interests you? Are you mecanical? Go to a trade school or community college at night and learn a trade. Turn off the TV and learn read. A/C & heating is in huge demand around here. How about real estate construction? Invent your own job. Cleaning gutters, cut grass to get started, then home handyman stuff, fix-it-man, installing bathrooms, kitchens, screen doors, ect. Realtors are constantly looking for people to take care of FHA repairs. I'd rather drive an ice cream truck than babysit human trash. Old folks will pay good $$$ to have their stuff fixed by honest people.

I can assure you I would not work at a place where someone throws crap at me for 10 mins, and you should not either. Life is too short! Tell your boss you stayed home to protest the health care thing. You'll feel better about yourself than lying about it.

I agree 100%. Did you think that being a New Jersey cop would be glamourous? I live in Minnesota and even I know it would not be. Thank You to the people that are willing to do that job, but it is a CHOICE that they/you have made.

Now you are complaining that you are being asked to pay for part of your health coverage? Join the real world! I have had 20% increases in my health premiums over each of the last 3 years and seen my co-pays go up 300%. Free health care is a thing of the past unless you are interested in socialized medicine where someone else will decide when you can see the doctor or what procedures will be performed.

Well, sounds to me like you're trying to steal a day's worth of work that you didn't perform.

There are many other avenues to pursuing a resolution to this situation other than putting your fellow workers at risk by not showing up.

In the end, if proper political process doesn't work, then find another job.

I'll never understand this line of thinking. It makes no sense and does nothing but put your own co-workers at rick of physical harm.

Well, maybe you shouldn't have posted so much detail. I think that you posted so much detail is that you're proud of what you have done. Ignorance doesn't make you understand that what you've done is something NOT to be proud of in my opinion.

Hey, we're all sinners. I'm not better than you are, but I am annoyed that you would do something like that to your buddies.

I am on of those who feel there are certain proffessions that DO NOT have the right to walk-out. LEO/Corrections are two of them.
Just how much did you and your 1100 cohorts endanger the lives of the officers who didnt call-in, by their not having the manpower to do the job safely?

I have to agree with everything being said here, nobody is perfect including myself. Lord knows I have made my fair share of mistakes over the years.

But we have to remember that when you get past all that stuff, the only thing you have left is your Honor and Integrity, either you have them or you don't.

Just something to consider when making these kind of decisions....
