Better Just Shut it Down...

I don't completely agree with this, but post it to pass on information. Looks like it's not going to affect those with diesel trucks, but everybody.

If some of those "overprotective parents" would examine thier own lives, they might find ways to help thier children grow up more healthy. Now all due respect here, but what percentage of them smoke? How about the fact that a smoking person emits quite a few more pollutants than a modern car or bus does? When do emission regualtions on DRIVERS take effect, instead of just cars and trucks...?

Did you also notice in the bus article - just how MUCH MORE $$$$ those new busses will cost? How many school districts can afford that...? Maybe we'll cut the sports programs to buy cleaner running busses so our kids can be more healthy overall...

Id say a hood stack would take care of the school bus problems Seriously though all this stuff is gay. I rode the bus as much as anybody and never got choked on fumes.

certain people need to think before they talk........

EPA made the high school I went to dig up the entire football field and the surrounding area because there was lead found in the dirt and it might cause lead poisoning to someone if they ate the dirt off the field.......

That was a multi-million dollar project that our tax dollars went to......

Then you never got to ride our old BUS 31.

It was an ancient old gas-burner, with holes in the exhaust and floorboards.

The only thing that kept us kids from getting monoxided were the numerous windows that were knocked out.

I have tried to describe our old bus to the best of my abilities and this description is the truth, honestly.

They don't call us in Kentucky "hillbillies" for no good reason.

It makes perfect sense. There is absolutely no reason why a vehicle should sit running idle for 5 minutes or more.

You've never dealt with -40* temps. My truck idles a lot when it is cold out( I use a hand throttle to keep the idle at about 1000rpm and maintain some heat). At -40*, my truck cools to under operating temp (and luke warm heat output) in less than 5 min. It takes up to 20 mins of hiway driving to build the heat back up.

Temp outside yesterday was -45*. Truck started at 0645hrs and didn't shut down until 1430. Total miles, 30. Kills the milage but you gotta stay warm some how.

Basically it's another way for the burecrap government to earn more money from the hard working innocent people that just wanna maintain a little bit of comfort in their own car. Not to mention that turning a car on and off a lot kills battery's quicker which means more batteries get trashed and those are more harmful to the environment than idling for 5 or more minutes. Also, doesn't a cold car emmit more pollution than a warm one? It's another BS law thought up by stupid tree huggin ***** and their idiot green peace hippie friends.

Wait a minute, if "I" own the car, I will do what I want with it. I may have to look this town up and go there looking for trouble. Slap them with a big suit, and see what happens. This is BS !

I see a market for an auto shutdown/start timer that idles for 4min, kills the engine, and then fires it right back up!

"On July 18, 2006 Vancouver City Council enacted a bylaw prohibiting parked vehicles from idling for more than three minutes. City bylaw enforcement officers will be issuing $50 tickets for violations ($100 for trucks and unlocked unattended vehicles). Vehicles that are idling to enable them to operate equipment for commercial or public service purposes are exempt."

It's already happened here they gave us all little green "I'm IDLE free after 10 seconds I turn off my engine" stickers that I have to put on the city van I drive
