What is the difference between using diesel as a weed killer and the road crew using diesel to clean the asphault from tools and heavy oils to kill weed on the road bed?

Diesel isn't that bad. Componds in diesel break down, algae and mold love the stuff, can biodegrade it pretty easily. Biodiesel straight (B-100) is very good for killing weeds, and is 100% biodegradeable. Glycerin byproduct or free-fatty acids produced when homemade biodiesel is processed are superb. Round-Up also is 100% biodegradeable over time, and the component breakdown is what kills the weeds, not the original chemical. Round-Up may seem expensive, but the concentrate goes a long way and you probably do not need to buy a whole gallon. Avoid the premixed stuff (ready to use) since you will be paying way too much for a large amount of water.

Yes, you pay about $10 to $12 for 1 or 2 gallons of water with a little RoundUp in it if you buy premixed. Buy the 32 or maybe it is 40 ounce bottle of RoundUp Concentrate and it comes out to about $2 a gallon. That is quite a bit cheaper than gas or diesel around here.

Buying the first gallon is the most expensive.

You won't need that much to do your drive. Using Round-up to kill weeds in the field, only takes about 24-32oz/acre. Depending on how big the weeds are. I usually run the lower rate. If it is timed right, and what the weather conditions are, we don't even need to come back a second time.

Will need a surfactant, like AMS (2-4#/acre), also. You can make the mix a little hotter with some crop oil. Don't recall the rate on the crop oil, off-hand.

Get your woman neighbour to park on your driveway instead of your lawn, just the fact that the weeds get driven over constantly should kill them off

I usually mix round up with diesel fuel. The diesel fuel helps hold the round up to the plants. The plant leaves get coated with the diesel and messes up the photosynthesis process and the round up will get sucked thru plant faster. Makes a longer lasting kill and once you spray a plant you will be able to tell right away where you have/or haven't sprayed yet. You will be able to cut back on the amount of Round up you use. That is what I do at home and they do the same thing at my work.

A boss from way back would have me kill the weeds in the parking lot by pouring ammonia straight out of the jug onto the weeds, it killed em' good. A sprayer might work well..the fumes would be pretty obnoxious

Lets see,

A little diesel in the water table, which is found in the cude oil form naturally in the ground or some man made poison?

which is worse?

Ive had to drink JP5 water on deployment in the navy and I'm still here.
Jim jones put poison in the Kool-Aid and they are all dead.

see if you can get some pramatol.or a genereic there of.it sells in about 3 gallons pails and it is granular.sprinkle it out were you need it then soak it in with water.it will kill everything in your drive and provide up to 30 months of resisdual.to get rid of it in the soil you would simply till the drive way are by at lweast 6 inches and the oxygen being introduced to the soil would break the residual control.i dont think you have to have a pesticide number to buy this either...
