Best way to break'in new chainsaw

Just purchased my very first brand new chainsaw, all the others have been hand me downs or I just dropped this from a pole, here you can have it. Its a Husqvarna 350, with 18'' bar 2 chains, hat and T-shirt, all for 3 big ones. What is the best way to break this sucker in? The owners manual says simply avoid high rpms for the first 10hrs, I know that I shouldn't be reading that stuff is for girls but, I want this thing to last a few years. Thanks for your replies.

Just make sure you use the correct fuel/oil mixture and go cut wood! You don't need to worry about break-in if you're not giving it max. throttle. Just use it like you're cutting fire wood. That's what it's for.

I've got a Husky I bought in 1985. Been to the shop one time in 22 years. I cut about 4-5 cords of wood each year, and sharpen my own chains, etc. Good saws. I've got 3 of them.

Get a good oil , low ash , mix it the way it is recommended and try and stick with that oil for the life of the saw . Do not add extra oil for break in , thats a good way to mess up a saw and run it like your going to run it . You have a great saw and the simple things will keep it that way .

My first suggestion is to return it to the store and get your money back.
My next suggestion is to go the the nearest stihl dealer and buy a real saw.

Just kidding husky builds a decent saw. We took some brand new huskys to katrina and ran them like raped apes out of the box, and they performed well. We also had stihls, and the ran excellent. Im a stihl fan because thats what i used growing up.
