Question Well - Pump Pressure Switch ??

The switch has two springs, one shorter than the other.

It does not have that aggravating low-pressure lever business.

Please refresh my memory.

What purpose does the shorter spring serve; as, most pressure-switches I have dealt with only have one spring ??

Which spring do I adjust to raise cut-in pressure ??

Thanks.

Pretty sure the longer spring is the cut in pressure, the shorter one would set the differential between cut in and cut out.

Been a while since I played with mine. They usually have instructions under the cover.

You are correct.

The long spring sets both cut-in and cut-out pressure.

The short spring sets the differential between the two.

Well, the cover, actually on the switch, had nothing in or on it.

So, I dug around through my vast collection of pressure-switches and found a cover that did, indeed, have adjustment instructions on a sticker inside the cover.

The reason for me having so many switches is that there was a large pile of them in the corner of the pump-house, when I bought this place; some are new and some are questionable, but I sure got plenty.

Thanks for the help.

That is one thing that drives me crazy around here when it gets hot and dry. The dog gone ants climb in the cover and go staight for the contacts. I file them with a emory board (with the power off of coarse) and spray them clean with contact cleaner. Sometimes I have to replace them because they get to burnt. I always find out when I am in the shower and loose water pressure with a full head of shampoo.

Set a large freezer bag over the switch box and tape it closed..
will keep insects out and keeps it from getting wet if your pressure tank or pipes leak.....learned that one from an old plumber.....

I really can't complain because beside my sister I am the only one with a full head of hair in my family and that includes all my male cousins also. It's turning gray but who cares. Gonna wash that gray right out of my hair.

I am going to do that one for sure. That's a good idea. It's gonna be done tonight.
